cy(!Lcb cy fdhv Morris High our Alma Mater, For glory and for fame We strive by all uniting To raise our voices in proud acclaim, We honor and uphold thy standards Linked firm with bonds of white and blue, WeTl think of you, our Alma Mater, To you WeTl all be true. We love the fair name of Morris, Which long has stood without stain It’s here we work for Alma Mater To guard her honor is our aim. Your sons and daughters ever praise thee As from your friendly halls they go, And oft in mem'ry they recall Their school days long ago. 3)ea imtcow RAYMOND CARD For over forty years, Raymond Card was an integral and motivating part of Morris Central School. Integral, because it seemed like the place couldn't ran with- out him (and it probab 1 y couldn't; at least, notas well), and motivating, be- cause in him hundreds of children saw the epitome of the hard-working man. But perhaps even more importantly, Ray is one of the finest, gentlest, most patient men we have ever known. We do indeed miss you, Ray, and we ever wish you the best. MIKE ROMBERGER What though the radiance which was once so bright Be now forever taken from my sight. Yeah, Godmudder, we gotcha. Yeah, I slept on rollers all night! True pals. Mmmmmmmmm. Eye on the ball. Impeccable. Yuhk, yuhk. You were saying? Well, I never! Look, Mat m September, 1960 - we go to school we have fun we learn to play we cry a lot David and Richie got caught smoking in a locker their parents are mad. In first grade all of us go for a field trip to Grandma's farm it was fun yea! Penny and Jim T. decide that cows are cool. In 2nd grade Mrs. Grundy beat Terry for talking he is very quiet now. Art said the roof leaked near his desk. We don't believe him. Chris keeps trying to have weddings. In third grade, Charlie decided he wants to be a mailman or a sailor or a noise pollution expert. He is not sure which. In art Phil draws his first real picture, a dollar bill. In fourth grade, Mr. Wetherby has to come in to yell at us for making too much noise. Ron spoke up and convinced him that it was okay. Mrs. Grundy, who got promoted, cries a lot. Roger nearly electrocuted her in her chair. Debbie E. always gets to be last in line everywhere we go. In fifth grade, Gary's face keeps getting all fuzzy. We think it's got something to do with the moon. John H. and Alan learn a new trick from Randy. In sixth grade, we are close to the door and the stairs. It is quicker out to the wall and we can hear the fun from upstairs. Barb now wears glasses; she says they make her look sexy. Chris and Jill get glasses, too. Terri says she's rather be blind. We think she's not telling us everything. Washington is a new experience. Debi opens up a boutique. In seventh grade, changing rooms boggles us and Dave and Rich keep getting lost in the locker room. Mr. Wetherby gets soaked hiding in the shower to help them find their way to science. Debbie S. decides she's definitely going to be a career girl. In eighth grade, Mary takes Peter and Wendy as her idols, but nothing else much happens. In ninth grade, Pam decides blondes don't have more fun (Jean told her) and being the older woman is chick. The Bundys buy an old Lotus and turn it into a doodlebug. In tenth grade. Bob finds a new way to skip class - remain anonymous. Myra decides being a girl is all right. In eleventh grade, with maturity comes Mary Lou's smoldering desire to make a play for the big time. It was a wise, old philatelist and cartographer who once upon a time said, When you wish upon a star, you better make sure your dues are paid. TOP: D. Elliott, D. Wilson, J. Tremlett, C. So we got out the old ones for luck. This is really a trick to get folks to come to the games. If this sounds like an ad, it isn't. It's just that we are considering a consolidation with the Hawaiian Grapefruit League, and all of our home games next year will be played in the new, covered, all-weather, combination Roller Derby Jai Alai Bocci Ball Arena, which should be named in time to make next year’s issue. The spring of 1972 saw the awarding, for the first time, of a trophy to honor the best, all-around athlete at Morris Central (We didn't want you to think this guy was from anywhere else.) The trophy was the conception of Mr. Leahy and Mr. Case, who, as it hap- pened, had a ready-made candidate in Ray Harrington. No one in the school could have deserved it more. Throughout Ray's high school career, his abilities in football and baseball have been very obvious. He is an outstanding athlete. Ray also happens to be a gen- eral, all-around nice guy, who isn't about to finish last. This combination makes him one of Morris Central's out- standing athletes and people. the first dream of the year; I kept it a secret and smiled to myself L TO R: S. Hansen, B. Crumb, D. Phone 847-2112 A FIRST BY VARDEN Student Yearbook Photographers Workshop “a Fantastic Success” In August of 1972, Varden Studios sponsored a workshop for student yearbook photographers which was held on the St. John Fisher College campus in Rochester, New York. One hundred and forty students and yearbook advisors took over 12,000 photographs during a 3 day period. All photos were processed and cri- tiqued during the workshop. In addi- tion to this, everyone enrolled at- tended 4 theory lectures, 5 one hour talks by top men in their fields, 2 slide shows by Kodak, a tour of the Rochester Institute of Technology photo department and also found time for a cookout and several social hours which included an all night rap session. Everyone was asked to fill out sheets to evaluate the workshop. Some of the comments were: quote “I hope I flunked so I can return next year” by Laurie Chapman, Amsterdam High School, Albany, New York. “Varden should conduct workshops, again, again, again and again” by Terry Tiraborelli, Fairport High School, Rochester, New York. “I thought the whole workshop was fantastic” by Kathy Beerhalter, John F. Ken- nedy High School, Utica, New York. “I believe that this workshop, the knowledge and commitment that is Photographs ... The Heart of Your Yearbook involved, has broadened our minds not only as photographers, but also as adult human beings, who can work together to obtain a more advanced form of communication” by Craig Gross, Corning-Painted Post East High School, Corning, New York. Workshop ’73 has already been planned. For information, call or write Mr. Carl Tandoi, Varden Studios, Inc., Rochester, New York 14607. Phone 546-2360. We hope to see you there.
