The latter was one of the greatest pleasures I have ever known. The people of America, espe- cially those of Morris, can congratulate themselves on being some of the nicest in the world. My year here has been one full of new excitement and enjoyment and for this I thank you all. My true feelings and appreciation cannot be expressed in words, but countless memories will travel back to Australia with me. On my return home I will be sure to tell my fellow Aussiea all about this small part of America. I hope some- one comes to see our kangaroos soon. Until then, watch those chipmunks! ! C ’ ass 1 fistortj We began our first days of school in M.C.S. with Mrs. Schick in September, 1958. From kindergarten to sixth grade we experienced many tilings. In the sixth grade, some of us journeyed to Washington, D.C., on the Safety Patrol trip. In our first seven years, we were joined by Diane Eklund in third grade, Ken Reynolds in fifth, and Cindy Bellows and Brian Dugan in sixth. Ann Wright left us in first grade and returned in fourth. In seventh grade we were exposed to the hustle and bustle of changing classes, teachers, and rooms for eight periods a day. In the tenth grade, we experienced Mr. Stafford's and Mr. Couden's classes for the first time. Both classes were different from those we have had in previous years. In our junior year, we held bake sales, dances, and a Junior Carnival to raise money for our Senior trip. Tina Shields was elected as a representative for Girls' State and Leland Empie for Boys State. We were joined by Marie Flavel, the exchange student from Australia, for the second half of the year. Barbara Cooke left us to be a foreign exchange student in Denmark. In our senior year, we sold magazines and have had bake sales to increase our funds for our Senior trip to New York City. Although it may not show it in their record the Mus- tangs brought the winning spirit back to Morris. The loss of five Seniors will hurt the team greatly; but the spirit of winning will still linger in the minds of the players and'spectators and other supporters. A near upset of an undefeated G'ville team is one of the biggest highlights of the season. 59 VARSITY BASKETBALL: P. Valentine, B. Hansen, J. Kogut, Coach Ketchum, D. Hungerford, R. Hansen, E. Hopper, J. Harris, R. Miller, R. Miller, L. Barton, P. Alger, Managers: S. Benjamen, R. Hansen, J. Bal- buena. VARSITY BASKETBALL After the first eleven games, the Mustangs are experiencing a fine season. At the time of this writing the Mustangs are No. 1 in the league. As the season nears its end, the Mustangs are hoping for a league championship. Also the team is looking forward to sectional play. The team has showed great spirit and determination. Graduation this year will hurt the team considerably with the loss of Pat Alger and Dave Anderson, but with the return of all the other players and several jayvees coming up next year, the Mustangs should be able to cope with the loss of these two players. There were several highlights of this season. Here are a few: 1) The beating of Afton - who the Mustangs had not beaten in many years. 2) The setting of a new school record in the scoring department. This came about when the Mustangs scored 108 points against South New Berlin. 3) The beating of Edmeston who came to Morris undefeated in the league. Over-all, the 1970-71 season was a good, solid team effort. SCORES: Morris Other Schnevus 72 63 SCORING: Afton 77 75 Franklin 67 74 P. Alger 249 Mt. Upton 80 65 Edmeston 82 80 D.
