Compassion and understanding were ever pres- ent in her classroom. JANE JONES SCOTT Glass GHisiory As Seniors, looking back on what seems to us to be thirteen wonderful years of education, we recall first the unusual events. One of the most exciting years we've spent in M. C. S. was fifth grade. Remember the experiments in science, the snowball fights while playing kickball in midwinter, and dear ol Faithful - as Mr. Hornketh called Patsy Gregory's lamb? September 6, 1964. Our first day upstairs. All of our teachers were new to us, but our first teacher - first period - was also new to M.C. S. - Mr. Leahy. With Mr. Leahy we took our first real field trip to the Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown. Since then we have been on many field trips. The most exciting of which were the two to New York City, with Mrs. Jacobsen for Frfench (That was a losing trip) and with our small, but swift-footed economics class. In September 1968, 40 juniors took their seats in room 23 where Mr. Leahy sat at his desk with a big smile indicating to us the im- pending doom - reporting to homeroom. (It got tighter this year!) In this year, as in all previous years, we were involved in many money-making activities including the Alumni Banquet. An active class, we have been well represented in all school ac- tivities including Seminars, Yearbook Staff, Newspaper Staff, Library Club, Film Club, Chess Club, Honor Society, Varsity Club, Sports - both boys and girls - and G. A. A. , which the girls helped Mrs. Martin recharter this year. We sent Dan Coon and Tom Cooke to Boys' State and with the aid of the faculty's votes, the Senior girls elected Alice Fiske, our D. A. R. good citizen. We also established with die Student Council, tire Student Lounge. Now in 1970, we are one complete graduating class. We have gone through all of the experiences of our predecessors and more - ordering class rings and receiving them, college field trips, assem- blies, Mr. Ryther's announcements, Senior Pictures (choosing the lesser two of eight evils), magazine sales, and of course the Senior Trip and Senior Teaching Day yet to look forward to. We have had several newcomers during our thirteen year at M. C. S. Melissa Purdy - 3rd Grade Barbara Reynolds - 6th Grade Sharon Jones - 8th Grade Karin Akulonis - 8th Grade Terry Gutierrez - 8th Grade Joanne Burdick - 9th Grade Alice Fiske - 10th Grade Lloyd Althiser - 12 th Grade Joan Serino - 12th Grade Bryn Liller - 12th Grade It has been an eventful thirteen years at Morris Central School. Snaps As the 1969-70 school year draws to a close, there are many things that each stu- dent holds as a memory of Morris Central School. Things have not always been as you wanted them to be, but all things have many times worked together for the good. Now as you go your separate ways, not knowing if happiness or sorrow will cross your path, hold the thoughts of your days spent in Morris High as the happiest of your life. Turn to this rambling structure which houses the best of students and adults and simply say, “Thanks for the memory.” THE YEARBOOK STAFF
