Friends in Morris: Well, I have so many things to say and if I start to tell you all my experiences I think I’d write a book, and somebody told me to write only a little article . . . I’m very happy to be in Morris, here I met wonderful families and very nice friends, it is here I first saw “snow”, it was one of my experi- ences and I love to watch the snow falling outside . . , and dream of many many things, I want to say “THANKS” to everybody, to my host families, my teachers and all the kids in school, you were so kind with me, and I’ll remember this year like one of the best in my life. If some of you want to have a Christmas in summer and sunshine in- stead of snow, don’t think twice, pack your bags and go to Cochabanbo, Bolivia. I’ll be very glad to have you at home. Now I have to say “CHAU AMIGOS” and don’t forget me. Sincerely,
”

Cfioss Wfctcwy In September, 1964, Morris Central School saw a brand new class of 50 freshmen. New members of the class included J. Brunschmid, M. Flannery, D. Northrup, W. Hugabone, J. Goodspeed, W. Hoag, and R. Moore. We also lost several members - K. Gould, F. Moore, J. Wood, J. Dunwald, and B. Madsen. We elected as our officers: President - M. Flannery; vice-president - J. Flannery; secretary - P. Dugan; and treasurer - T. Winters. Our class was well represented in most of the activities. We sponsored activities to raise money for the senior trip. One of our activities was a dance - the first of its kind in Morris. We also had a movie and a slave day. Each year various classes take field trips. One very interesting trip that part of the class went on was to Herki- mer County to dig diamonds (quartz). In September, 1965, 46 sophomores took their seats in Mr. Stafford’s homeroom 30. New members of the class included M. Finneran, C. Faber, who left later in the year, B. Wright, J. Gutierrez, and L. Yager. Leaving the class were D. Northrup, R. Pegg, and J. Miles. We elected as our officers: president - M. Flannery; vice-president - T. Winters; secretary - J. Walter; treas- urer - J. Guttierrez. An active class, we were represented on all of the athletic teams and all of the clubs, excluding the Yearbook staff, but including National Honor Society. Prize speaking was undertaken, and several members of the class par- ticipated in summer seminars. An exciting experience for us was the ordering of our class rings. After much debate and indecision, we finally chose our round rings. Again, as in previous years, we were involved in earning money for our trip. We held several dances and movies. The beginning of our junior year again began in room 30. There were 37 of us. D. Valentine, S. Purdy, and D. Place were new classmates, D. Chase and J. Curtis were new members of the class, but left the same year, along with D. Nason, M. Flannery, and J. Pentzien. We elected as our officers: president - L. George; vice-president - J. Gutierrez; secretary - J. Walter; treas- urer - S. Purdy; and student council representatives - N. Tremlett and J. Lull. We were again represented in all clubs and teams. Several members were on the newly formed newspaper staff. Several 68'ers are also charter members in the new Varsity Club. The senior yearbook staff also had several competent junior helpers. Three members participated in the Oratorical Contest after much prodding by classmates and teachers. They gladly took time out of American History to practice. The contest was climaxed by a fainting spell which caused some excitement. In late September, any observant person saw an increase in class rings. Most of us liked them very much. Two field trips taken during the year were to Cooperstown for Law Day and to Cornell University for Science Day. Students there surely must get enough exercise. Representatives from Morris to Boys’ State were Jim Lull and Bill Wright. Lois George was our representative to Girls' State. Especially since our senior year was rapidly drawing near, we again sponsored several activities. We had dances and movies. Bringing the school year to a close was the Alumni Banquet. Moving tables, cleaning, even serving old seniors, and particularly eating the left-overs was a fun way to end the year. By the time September 1967, and the beginning of one of the busiest times of our lives, rolled around, Mr. Stafford and the 30 on the door were familiar sights in the homeroom for the new seniors. We began the year with 32 members in the class. N. Stone, V. Splinder, L. Yager, and W. Harris all left, but the class has 3 new mem- bers: R. Holdridge, R. Kodrich, and B. Young. Another special addition to the class was Wanda lvanovic, our ex- change student from South America. A few people from the class attend Vocational School in Oneonta every morning. It sure leaves a hole when we have a class meeting in the morning.
