KNAPP Secretary .Principal s Address to the C lass of 1963 The years ahead are certain to be influ- enced by the products of today's schools. Gov- ernment, industry, the Armed forces, private business, and other endeavors will find their fu- ture leaders from among the millions of youth who are completing their secondary education this year. Those youth who have persevered enough to attain the goal of a high school di- ploma may proudly proclaim this achievement. Many will not be content to rest on these laurels, however, but will set higher goals. Further training beyond high school is al- most a must these days. On the heads and shoulders of the graduates of institutions of high- er learning will fall the responsibilities of the nation. A rich American heritage is available to all citizens of our country. Your share of this heritage will depend greatly on your preparation, your capabilities, your skills, and how you adapt yourself to the world. My admonition is to grasp every opportunity to improve yourself, and make the best use of these in securing a better education, a better career for the future, and in so doing, make a better America. This gives the band an over all record of concert competition at Sherburne of 5 first and 2 second places. Representing the band at the sectional all-state festival held in Syracuse in November were Eileen Dodge and Elaine Wright, clarinets; and John Matteson, baritone. During the 62-63 school year the band played for pep rallies, football games, the Senior Play and presented a winter and spring concert. Morris was also the host for the Area Music Festival held March 29th. The band will compete in Grade 5 at the 63 spring state competition. Solo ompetition E. Dodge A6 E. Wright B 6 J. Matteson B 6 C.
