Lull, G. Gugel, D. Cooke, L. Simonds Football as a sport was renewed last year after a lapse of four years. A large, enthusiastic squad was on hand to greet Coaches Hurley and Dimao the first practice. The task of molding a team from totally inexperienced players who would be competing against experienced players on other teams was a difficult one. But the coaches worked overtime to develop a team that had everyone cheering. The boys won only one game, but in practically every contest our team was in there fighting all the way, and they earned the reputation of being a tough team to beat. In the final game against the championship Unadilla team at Unadilla, the boys played their opponents almost on even terms, with the hosts leading at halftime by a narrow 14-7 margin. Unadilla pulled away in the third and fourth periods to win by a comfortable margin, but the Mustangs gave them a game all the way. Most of the squad returns again so we are anxiously looking forward to next fall. Gassler- Score Keeper, Mr. Clement After a slow start, during which time they lost four of their first six games, the Varsity roared back to win the next seven games, ail in league competition. With one league game left, the team was in first place, and was favored to win the championship of theTri-Valley League. However ineligibility of three key players was too great a loss, and the team was defeated, thereby ending the season in a three-way tie for first place. The ensuing playoffs found a scrappy and determined Mustang five going down to defeat to the champion New Berlin quintet. The return of ail but Captain Louis Foote for next year's team brings promise of a good season.
