We the class of '55 hereby dedicate this yearbook to GEORGE PRESTON, our District Superintendent, who is retiring this year after about 50 years of devoted service in the field of Education. To Miss Fiaschi, who was new that year, we were a group that had to be dealt with. After she got us calmed down we elected officers. The outcome was: President Ronald Halbert Secretary Theresa Fazio Vice President Alfred Luckhurst Treasurer Freddy Colburn Freddy Colburn, Jerry Joy, James Talbot and Charles Elliot participated in sports. In the field of music we were well represented. Later that year Donna Goetcheus came and joined our group and Robert Keeley left. We decided to raise some money for our Senior trip someday to come. So we gave a Hobby Show. It turned out very good. Then June came and we gladly took our tests. Back in the fall of '52 we found that Iona BaiT ty, Eugene Puylars, Bob Shampang, Fred Bronger and Alfred Luckhurst had left us. Now that we were twenty-five unmanageable Sophmores we decided to elect the following as officers: President Ronald Halbert Secretary Ann Harrington Vice President Theresa Fazio Treasurer James Talbot During the year we had bake sales, a Variety Party, and Skating Parties, to raise money. One way or another, we struggled through the year. To everyones surprise, we were back in '53 but only twentv-fourof us. In the middle of the year Ronald Halbert and Eleanor Hoag transferred to the Senior class. Our class was divided in two this year. The boys were with Mr. Knapp and the girls were with Mr. Zoch. Once when we got together we elected officers. President Roy Harrington Secretary Theresa Fazio Vice President Jerry Joy Treasurer Eva Harrington During the year Robert Perrigo decided to come back and join our class. We decide'- to sell wraping paper and writting paper. Then we had bake sales. At the end of the year our class went on a picnic. To Mr. Knapp we gave some gray hairand to Mr. Zoch well---he lost some. The Seniors Well here it was. We were Senior's finally. Ever) one charged into Mr. Clapp's room and he charged out. On one occasion when he was trying to teach us English, he said he had ulcer trouble and couldn't get excited. So after that we tried to keep our selves out of mischief. Well, as much as possibly. Af ter a few months we decided it was time to elect officers. We elected: President Fred Bronger Secretary Theresa Fazio Vice President James Talbot Treasurer Roy Harrington We started to raise money by selling magazines. Then we gave our Senior Play Dear Ruth which everyone said was the best they'd ever seen. We almost put it on twice but Mr. Clapp said his ulcers couldn't ta ke it. After that we worked on our year book. This year we put in a Student Council. Of course we didn't expect it to work out miracles for the first time it'sgone into effect. But we hope that in the futher it will be for the betterment of the school and for the students here. In February we sponsored a Rotary Supper in the new cafeteria. Well, the time finally came to go on our trip and everyone had a wonderful time. When we returned every one knew that our days at Morris Central were coming to an end and graduating wasn't a dream any more it was a reality. Theresa Fazio Motto. It s Never Too Late To Do Better. All the Senior girls will to the Junior girls the following: The personality, charm, and character that we have always shown! ! ! ! 41 cheerleaders 42 eighth grade gymnastics 43 CLASS POEM in our last year at Morris, when all through the school, Not a person but knows us, yes, even the fool It's hard to imagine what next year will be, When all you have of us is a memory! Into some teacher's tired, grey head, May enter the query, What field trip now, Fred Or else curiosity may flicker and burn, As we wonder whaf's doing with Klobber Colburn. And as we consider the fate of F.C. , We’re reminded of Terry almost instantly. Is she typing, or cheering, or drumming fortissimo --Or running her household, no longer a Fazio? Then, at some teasing in class, the thought may hit hard, How goes it with heckled and pestered Pat Card? Is she off working at this or at that- Or has she now settled on a Mr. Pat? And this brings to mind that lady-killer --That car-wrecking blonde, yep, I mean Miller! He's calm and he's married, but I'd be a coward, If I thought so routinely to dispose of Howard. It's odd how these thoughts come and go wierdly-Right now I can see an irate Catherine Beardsley. And I wonder just who she is making obey, With this cute, but most furious anger from Cae? Yes, the mind is just like some olden sea-rover, Which now, we discover, has found friend Grover. I hope he is happy and no sort of a louse With a barnful of livestock all branded Morehouse. How mixed is the memory, all broken in bits-- I recall now another one: Bendzlowicz. What boy does she smile at with such glee. This quiet young gal whom we know as Lee? Let's break up this quiet thought and turn to a boy--None other than crusher, the mangier, Joy. Whatever he's doing, he's sure to be merry, For that's what we think of in connection with Jerry. Naturally, too, we must think of his 'hon'-- That crazy, most likeable Harrington. The gal whose giggle and voice we'll leave-- And recollect only how swell was Eve. Now as the class studies with a hum like a purr, There boftms in the memory the deep voice of Bronger. What deadly game does he fill with lead, What other successes come to capable Fred? Each moment continues to send up a marker- I remember our Mammy, that chuckler Parker. With friends uncounted and manner so airy. She must be successful-(but why call her Mary?) Thinking like this is like Santa's Dasher . You know you can't see him-but there is Lasher. He's up to his ears in old grease and junk cars, As happy, is Ralph, as any on Mars. Another brief flashback to '54 Morris- She's complaining of English- oh yes. it's Doris. And quietly now, but with all her might, Whatever she's doing, Saunders does right. Great day in the morning! Remember that Chas! Such jokes would he offer-none would he let pass. Yes, punster, prankster, go-getter, that boy- Now managing Hilltop is Harrington, Roy. So, new recollection like tinder I fan, And I hear sweetly singing that lettered Joanne. More bounce to the ounce- a motto well picked., For this high-calibred number, one Benedict. Yes, these are the memories, on and on, Like quiet, artistic, dependable Don. Whether he farms, or whethers he launders, He'll sure do it well, if I recollect Saunders. This carries us on to some more-tra-la! As I see in mind's eye that prompting Sheila. And always present for work or for fun- She must do O. K. , this gal Rathbun. Such great concentration, my brow it does crease. As I see here beside me boy-bobed Denise. With spirit and diligence that no one can douse, It's sure she's all-righty this other Morehouse. 44 If my brain catches fire, don't call it arson, I'm gone!-no not Gabriel's horn! Aha , Larsen! Tumbleweed music, not a note-does it vary. And certainly here is the field for Larry. I'm punchy I tell ya! Dig me man? For there in the corner sits bright-eyed Ann. Now what are her troubles, one following one? - As teaching confronts this supurb Harrington. Now who is this fellow, do I know him? Ah, yes, it's that stringbean, that character Jim. No cares no worries get him in a rut, Say- is that his girlfriend or Mrs. Talbot? This gets so routine I can't stop if I wanna--As I see her late entry, at last it's Donna. With charm and such manners so apt for a dutchess, Entertaining a breeze for the likes of this Goetcheus. Now dim recollections, you'll soon loose job, As I see the bright smile of winsome Bob. Still driving with Howard? brave lad Perrigo! Hope the search yields a looker, no virago. And just as I'm leaving, my hat I do don-- Around mind's corner trods featherweight Ron! Step right up says the carnival barker-- Take a chance at beating, unbeatable Parker.! Then back to the class room we go with a clatter. To bother the teacher with all of our chatter, But this is forgiven when we tell the sad tale--We soon will be leaving with many a wail. RONALD PARKER Football Basketball F. F.
