The proudest cities the oldest nations have, one by one, succumbed to the powerful armies of the most insane tyrant who has ever conceived a plan for conquering the universe, A We realize that ours is not an ordinary task. Iti will be ours, the Graduating Classes of all nations, duty to rid the world of its present menace, to restore'not only men's regu- lar procedure of life, but, above all else, his faith in himself, and to supplement peace with a guarantee that men never again will rise in arms against his brother. Our job is strewn with obstacles which will take years, yes, generations to overcome, but we shall not cringe or grovel in the dust of the conqueror's army. 'No, with the training which you, our par- ents, the faculty, the Board of Education, have afforded us, with the burning desire which flares in our hearts to avenge and right the wrongs ,showered upon mankind, we set out with heart-felt thankfulness for our education min- gled with thee sorrows of departing, to accom- plish our aimsi Willard Tremlett '42 t' 1 UI, Y n ',:1,.E. ia., :int-0-if 1 -

That year we lost no members, but did gain two, fM1nnie Richards and William Andres. Twenty-two proud, sophisticated ' Seniors took their places in room 25, sSeptember,l94l. Immedbately a class meeting was held to elect officers for the year. The victors were as follows: David Carr, Pres1dentg ewillard Tremlett, Vice Presidentg Erna Laubmeier, Treas- urerg and Ethel Miller, Secretary. r Enthusias- tically we set about to add to our funds. -Then came the War and our hopes for the trip we had expected were dashed against the rocks. Wash- ington had driven out all tourists and un- necessary people, New York was rapidly becoming over-crowded, and the hope of going to Detroit was fruitless. Reluctantly we abandoned hope for a trip. Then came a ray of light--why couldn't we visit some places of interest near here? l g Easter came and we went! Howe Caverns, Schoharie, Albany, Saratoga and other places. We visited places of interest some of which many NStarks Knobu, the people don't know exist, only volcano in this part of the country and Nlndian Laddern in Thatcher Park. We accomp- lished the primary purpose of a Senior Trip, we learned a great deal, and still we were pat- riotic! We didn't go where we weren't wanted, we didn't waste gasoline or rubber but we did have a lot of fun. ' During the year Wwe have had two additions to our class. Rosalyn Levene and Whitney Shaver have joined us for their final yeary ln. school. Stanley Danielson has left us to join the Marine Corps. Throughout our entire high-school career our class has been excellentlyt represented in all sports and other activities. This year four of the first team .in Varsity Basketball were Seniors. ,A . g '- ' 'l' . iii! 'H . - Stes J Q
