The proudest cities the oldest nations have, one by one, succumbed to the powerful armies of the most insane tyrant who has ever conceived a plan for conquering the universe, A We realize that ours is not an ordinary task. Iti will be ours, the Graduating Classes of all nations, duty to rid the world of its present menace, to restore'not only men's regu- lar procedure of life, but, above all else, his faith in himself, and to supplement peace with a guarantee that men never again will rise in arms against his brother. Our job is strewn with obstacles which will take years, yes, generations to overcome, but we shall not cringe or grovel in the dust of the conqueror's army. 'No, with the training which you, our par- ents, the faculty, the Board of Education, have afforded us, with the burning desire which flares in our hearts to avenge and right the wrongs ,showered upon mankind, we set out with heart-felt thankfulness for our education min- gled with thee sorrows of departing, to accom- plish our aimsi Willard Tremlett '42 t' 1 UI, Y n ',:1,.E. ia., :int-0-if 1 - of I 1 5 YE-I xv 1 ' K SENIOR CLASS HISTORY William Andres Erna Laubmeier ' Howard Bailey Florence Bundy Dwight Littlewood A Irene Burdict Ethel Miller f dovard Caldera David Carr Martha Cerrosaletti Minnie Richards Stanley Danielson ' Whitney Shaver Leonard Hoyer Doris Soutnern 1 Donald Kiel James Stafford Jilton Knickerbocker Willard Tremlett Rosalyn Levene T Robert Myers Pauline Pegg Twenty nine stunned Freshmen entered the halls of the old M G S in September, four years ago and soon came under the supervision of Miss Clark Then in November We were officially in itiated by the Sophomores and became full fledg ed Freshmen June came finally with the much dreaded exams but we all survived and yprepared to enjoy our summer vacation Soon we were to be at our studies again This time the Sophomore Class consisted of 55 industrious students Mr Robb was our class adviser that year until he was transferred to the Freshmen room At that time Mr Heaverly filled Mr Robb's previous position Sophomores we began to think about our Senior trip, therefore we tried and succeeded in securing small sums from food sales and roller skating We ended that year with the customary class picnic at Gilbert Lake Again we continued on our journey Under the guidance of Mrs Kinsey we prepared for the Junior year Soon after we returned to school we held a class meeting and elected officers - President, Willard Tremlettg Vice-President 4 Martha Cerosaletti, Secretary, Ethel Millerg Q Treasurer, Howard Bailey. That year we lost no members, but did gain two, fM1nnie Richards and William Andres. Twenty-two proud, sophisticated ' Seniors took their places in room 25, sSeptember,l94l. Wash- ington had driven out all tourists and un- necessary people, New York was rapidly becoming over-crowded, and the hope of going to Detroit was fruitless. Reluctantly we abandoned hope for a trip. Then came a ray of light--why couldn't we visit some places of interest near here? l g Easter came and we went! We visited places of interest some of which many NStarks Knobu, the people don't know exist, only volcano in this part of the country and Nlndian Laddern in Thatcher Park. We accomp- lished the primary purpose of a Senior Trip, we learned a great deal, and still we were pat- riotic! We didn't go where we weren't wanted, we didn't waste gasoline or rubber but we did have a lot of fun. ' During the year Wwe have had two additions to our class. Rosalyn Levene and Whitney Shaver have joined us for their final yeary ln. school. Stanley Danielson has left us to join the Marine Corps. Throughout our entire high-school career our class has been excellentlyt represented in all sports and other activities. This year four of the first team .in Varsity Basketball were Seniors. ,A . g '- ' 'l' . iii! The two scientists notice that the fleet's in as they focus the machine to port. They recog nize two nurses as Ethel Miller and Doris South- ern. Look who's there to meet them,Willard Trem- lett, a graduate fror.Test Point. ' Again they focus their machine on Morris where many more of the Class of '42 are located. First, they see Erna Laubmeier, a private secre tary to William Barton of the Barton Tractor Company, explaining to lr. Howard Wright,a prom- inent farmer in the district the details of the cost and operation of the Barton Tractor. Passing into the country regions Mr. Andres notices Minnie Richards, an army nurse home on leave and Pauline Pegg,a teacher in an adjoin ing school, talking furiously about the happen- ings during their school days.
