Ndncy Beorden Vice-President Dorothy McConnell . . . ludnito Stronqe Secretory-Treasurer ITIES PERSO LITIE IANE MAssEY PRYOR REED CRUCE, IR. IDA LOUISE WALLER IANE MASSEY Because-she is at present, President of the Senior Class, Editor of the Ayer, Secretary Treasurer of the Glee Club, Librarian, works in the Principals office and had an amusing but confusing role in the Senior play. And not only this year but in the former years, she held offices in her classes and has been outstanding in other activities. PRYOR REED CRUCE, IR. Because-he is active in Speech Department, holds an office of the Hi-Y, is Co-captain of the Football team, Co-editor of the Hi-Life staff and Chair- man of the Iunior Red Cross. IDA LOUISE WALLER Because-she is a most active leader in Iunior Red Cross work: was chosen Editor of the Hi-Life staff, reigned as Queen of the Homecoming game, played the important role of murderer in the Senior play, and is one of the most original students in high school. Because of her originality, she is a master at making announcements. Too, Idy is a top-ranking student. PERSO ALITIE IOYCE HAYs BoB WHITE EDNA PAYE STELL IOYCE HAYS Because-she is Business Manager of the Senior class, Ayer staff, Pep squad, and is Head Librarian and in other activities she is liked and depended upon by both teachers and students. She was chosen by the Senior class to run as our candidate for Presidency oi Student Council. Need we say more? BOB WHITE Because-he is the back-bone of all stage productions, Art Editor for the Hi-life, Artist for posters, banquet decoraiions, Cstorks, etc.D7 he might be called the class artist. Bob is a brilliant student, and very dependable. His versatility makes him the most outstanding boy in school. EDNA PAYE STELL Because-she has served as Vice-President oi both her Iunior and Senior classes: is Co-editor oi the Ayer , Vice-President of the Home Ec Club, was a Queens Maid at the Homecoming game in the fall of 19445 works in the Superintendenfs office: was an officer of the Pep Squad. She also played well an grnporiant role in the Senior play, Nine Girls. X PERSONALITIE DOROTHY REYNOLDS BUDDY BRITT PAT HAWKINS DOROTHY REYNOLDS Because-she is one of the two business managers of the Ayer staff and one of the most valuable assistants on the staff: Vice-President of the Student Council in 1943-447 one of the business managers of the Iunior class in 1943-445 a most dependable student with a high scholastic record throughout her high school years. Her part in the Senior play, Nine Girls, was ably performed. BUDDY BRITT Because-although only a freshman, he has accomplished much. I-le is well liked by teachers and pupils and is probably the first freshman to be one of M. H. S.'s cheerleaders. He is also in the Glee club, takes part in innumerable chapel programs and in all activities of his class. PAT HAWKINS Because-when she came to ole M. H. S. last fall the first thing she did was to get a major role in the lunior play. No, this wasnt all. She took charge of singing and other music assembly programs. Every one knows ole Pat and her red hair and thinks she is tops. She is a member of the Thespians, of the Student Council and co-operates with everybody in every way. PERSONALITIE MARTHA ANN STUART THOMAS HUGH MOORE MARY EVALYN Brccs MARTHA ANN STUART Because-as a sophomore she is outstanding, especially at the piano. This year she is pianist for the Glee club, is active in the Student Council, or in any other work she may be asked to do. By both teachers and students she is popular. ln the future no doubt, she will be a leader of her class. ln addition to this, she is an A student. This alone speaks for itself. THOMAS HUGH MOORE Because-although a transfer from Oppelo and this is his first year in M. H. S., he has made many friends and is depended upon by both the students and teachers. Holds a class office and is one of our main War bond salesmen. MARY EVALYN BIGGS Because-she is not only popular with both teachers and students but very outstanding in all activities, including Pep squad, Glee club, Student Council and Iunior Red Cross work. She is a prospective leader of her class. With an A record for the first two years she should be an honor student in l947. B -3 yldddii' v4 ' Qflif , ,, Q 4- adn.. O PLAY NINE GIRLS The Senior Class play was Nine Girls, a murder mystery in a prologue and two acts, presented March 2. The scene of the play was a sorority clubhouse in the Sierra Neva- da mountains, where nine sorority sisters have gathered for a week-end. They learned from a radio broadcast that a tenth member, Paula, had been brutally murdered. When Alice, roommate of the murdered girl, revealed to Mary, another of the girls, that she had a clue to the murderer in a letter written by Paula, Mary betrayed her confi- dence by burning the letter. Mary explained to Alice that she herself had murdered Paula accidentally in an argument over a love affair. To guarantee her own safety, Mary pois- oned Alice, thinking the murder would ap- pear to be suicide. The plot was then concerned with the attempts of Mary's roommate and dearest friend, Eve, to prove Alice was murdered and to find the murderer. Mary's unsuccessful attempt to kill Eve led to the discovery of her guilt. Members of the cast were: lane-Edna Faye Stellg Eve-Dorothy Reynoldsy Frieda- Mary Virginia Stallings: Sharon CGlamor- puss D-Shirley Ann Barger: Stella CShotputD -Iane Massey: Alice-Wanda Faye lonesp Mary-Ida Louise Waller: Shirley-Bobby Ruth Nisler: Betty CTennesseeD-Nelda Io Webby Phyllis-Joyce Haysp Bob White was in charge of production. JU IOR PL Y BROTHER GOOSE Brother Goose, a three-act comedy by William Davidson, was presented December lOth, by the Iunior Class. The plot centered around the family activities of Ieff Adams, a struggling young architect, and his younger brother and sisters, Wes, Carol and Hy. The attempts of Ieff to land contracts from Le- nore Hudson, a beautiful but predatory heir- ess, and from Mrs. Trimmer, owner of a chain of Wee Blue Inns, were constantly being fumbled by Wes, whose consuming interest was girls-especially charming Eve from next door--by Carol, who was aiming at Hollywod, and by Hy, who thought life made up of football. These three young people also intention- ally fumbled Lenore's plans to land Ieff. They received able assistance from Peggy Winkle, who came to the house as a hosiery saleswoman, stayed as a housekeeper, and eventually became Mrs. Adams. Characters in the play were: Ieff Adams -Alfred Davis: Wesley Adams-lim Mas- sey: Carol Adams-lane Pickthornp Hyacinth Adams-Ioan Beardeng Lenore Hudson-Pa- tricia Hawkins, Mrs. Trimmer-Emogene Elamp Eve Mason-Sammy Lee McKinley, Peggy Winkle-Mary Iean Lachowskyg Helen, the maid-Alfretta Abstong Sarah, the colored maid-Iuanita Scrogginsp the truck driver-I.
