Not that we tire of thee, But that thyself fatigue of us, Remember, as thou flee, We follow thee until Thou notice us no more, And then, reluctant, turn away To con thee o'er and o'er, And blame the scanty love We were content to show, Augmented, sweet, a hundred fold If thou would'st take it now. . . .Class of 74 CLASS PROPHECY I9 4 As I walk through this hall of fame I see many 74's have made their name. Pat Caldwell's sewing for the Queen of Spain She sews all day long with a lot of strain, Her clothes are the finest in all the land And even her 13 kids look quite grand. Mark Heater's fame a game warden he 's become It's no wonder with all the hunting he's done, He protects the animals and their young From hunters like he was, for years to come. Melodie Delzell is here I see She's a driving specialist which is hard to be, She teaches you how to stay on the road, Avoiding ditches and being towed. Now is Monte Delzell a cousin of Mel's He's making cars for his sons to sell, It's because of these cars that he's made his fame For they're the only car around with the Delzell name. Appearing as a farmer's Wife is Elaine Carlson now Who helps her husband pasture the cows, From the looks of their position they've put up quite a battle For they own half the cattle from New York to Seattle. In a conference with the pitcher I've seen Joe Niles The public was roaring and going wild, The batter struck out, the crowd gave a cheer joe was named then, the coach of the year. Beth Griffith made her name in this world She thought she'd give her dad's job a whirl, She worked quite hard through snow and rain And now the first lady post mistress is her fame. The mayor'll be in conference soon He's the honorable mayor, Billy Coon, Soon he'll be running for re-election With his last year's platform of self-protection. Judy Sands is a professional golfer She's Won many tournaments which isn't a wonder, She's got her own club called the The Hole In One And it's in her golfing town of ole Morning Sun. Bruce McClure, wrestler of the year Has been shedding many a tear, He could have been another Dan Gable If he hadn't forgotten to push away from the table. If you happen to be flying the friendly skies And see a small shapely girl with dark brown eyes, An ex-waitress of jack's is ole Rhonda Kay Who invites you to fly with her, up, up and away. Banichek Springsteen is out on guard If he's not on duty he's seen mowing a yard, He keeps the minors from getting stung For he remembers how he was when he was young. Connie Ledbetter is a mother of five She Works very hard to keep them alive, She washes and irons, sews and does dishes To keep the kids happy and off their leashes. Drew Cooley's picture I have seen It's featured in Playgirl magazine, It's quite a picture I ve heard told I-Ie wears a great big smile and looks quite bold. Roxanne Wheeler's a bank President Her goal is to run the United States mint, She's made quite a formne in this bank of hers For she owns over 100 valuable furs. Mark Strawhacker's a basketball star You can see by his position he 's gone quite far, I-lis teams never lost for 300 games And star Strawhacker is now in the Hall of Fame. The most famous nursing home under the sun Is owned and run by Mel Johnson, She's got hundreds of patients and they're all quite proud To live in her home away from the crowd. Out doing the chores is farmer Mills He owns a lot of land with a lot of hills He uses this land to raise thousands of hogs And he keeps them in line with 33 dogs. 7 There's a famous restaurant known round the earth And it's all because of one man's birth, If it wasn't for Sheldon there 'd a been no way For people to know of Wolfe's Cafe. We 've got one more left and it's not surprising It's Dana Lu Kellogg and she 's supervising, She's on the farm telling her Dad how it's done Growing the best yielding crops under the sun. We 'Ve .seen them all now, it wasn't a big class I suppose that's the reason they all managed to pass, But they've accomplished much and established their name In the Class of '74 , Senior Hall of Fame. 1974 Senior Class Will We, the Senior Class of 1974, being of sound mind and body 74M of the time do hereby will the following to the students who have to put up with everything we had to this year. It seems everyone goes their separate ways and we the senior class of 1974 will be nevermore. But the memories of the thirteen years we spent together will live on in our minds for many years to come. In our first year of school we were guided by Mrs. McDonald. We started out with thirty-two members who con- sisted of, Eugene Anderson, Drew Cooley, Billy Coon, Monte Delzell, Mark Heater, Keith Hudson, Robert Knight, Bruce McClure, Doug Mills, Perry Robb, Frank Springsteen, Michael Taylor, Sheldon Wolfe, Denise Blake, Patti Caldwell, Melodie Delzell, Nancy Fish, Beth Griffith, Peggy Hardin, Lori Heisler, Jennifer I-Iostetter, Melanie Johnson, Dana Kellogg, Elizabeth Lacy, Kathy McCreight, Connie McKee, Ruth Murphy, Judy Sands, Roxanne Wheeler, Michelle Whitham, Rhonda Wilkerson, Spring Rose Wixom. The big highlight of that year was the trip to McDonalds farm. Our second year brought us up the stairs to new surroundings and to Mrs. Beck. Here she taught us all about Dick and Jane and how fast Spot and Puff ran. During this year we lost three who were Keith Hudson, Perry Robb, and Michelle Whitham. We did gain Renee Jones, Mark Wiggins, Charlotte Richardson, Sharon Hammon, Virginia Bo- line, Dennis Dotson, and Danny Noble. In second grade Mrs. DeYarman began to teach us how to tell time and little did we know how short time would be in our last days of high school. Here we lost Robert Knight, Denise Blake, Lori Heisler, Ruth Murphy, Spring Rose Wixom, Renee Jones, Virginia Boline and Mark Wiggins, but gained Carmen and Jerry Bernard, Christine Win- ters, and Howard Duncan. Mrs. Hetherington took hold in third grade and with little help we learned a bit of Spanish. This year we only lost one, who was Michael Taylor. He must not have liked the Spanish so well. There were some newcomers like Nancy Smith, Jane Reimers, Sandra Boline, and Philip Hoffman. Another year went by and we found ourselves in fourth grade with Mrs. Stevenson. Here we sharpened up our knitting needles and our singing voices. A few of our classmates didn't like to sing and soon left us. They were Eliz- abeth Lacy, Kathy McCreight, Charlotte Richerdson, Carmen and Jerry Bernard, Howard Duncan, and Jane Reimers. In Sth grade we became Mrs. Caldwell's greatest rock hounds and butterfly catchers. We did lose one rock hound and that was Peggy Hardin. She must have gone on to greater things. There were two interested butterfly catchers who were Connie German and Mark Strawhacker. Sixth grade took us over to the big building where the BIG kids were. Here we had to start all over again and be the littlest ones. Elaine Carlson, Lester Johnson, and Terry Pulse were among the newcomers for that year. We were saddened though that year by the death of Jennifer Hostetter. Seventh grade still found us struggling with home work galore. That year the class had quite a growth spurt. Becky Calvin, Karen Tillotson, Martha Walker, Rodney Leonard, Richard Hillyard, Bill Jarrett, and Dennis Rice joined us that year. Again the class of 74 was on top, but only of the junior high. We s'dll had four more years to be the top dog. Martha Walker, Rodney Leonard, Richard Hillyard and Bill Jarrett left that year but we still gained three back who were Gloria Pratt, Steven Beights, and Mike Moore. Our Freshman year we started to get into the swing of high school and it was quite an experience. 'I'his year we gained three new people, Joe Niles, John Harris and Tom Harris. The year 1972, our sophomore year, with a lot of hard work, brought us 1st place on our Homecoming float. We did lose John and Tom Harris but gained Kay Wilkins and Judy Rice. Our Big event of our junior years was the building of the prom, The Wizard of Oz . Little did we know it would take so much work in such a short time. We only gained one classmate that year, Larry Ward. And lost three, Eugene Anderson, Sharon Hammon, and Judy Rice. Well here we are, our final year of high school, we finally made it! We did lose two classmates again this year and they were Kay Wilkins and Larry Ward. This made a grand total of 20 graduating seniors, Of this total 17 made the 13 years together, and those of the senior class today are, Pat Caldwell, Melodie Delzell, Beth Griffith, Mel- anie Johnson, Dana Kellogg, Drew Cooley, Bill Coon, Monte Delzell, Mark Heater, Bruce McClure, Doug Mills, Frank Springs, Connie McKee, Judy Sands, Roxanne Wheeler, and Rhonda Wilkerson. Even though we did decrease in number since 1961, we still have the same friendship and loyalty to one another that we started our with. 16 Bacralaureate ernire MORNING SUN HIGH SCHOOL SUNDAY, MAY 19, 1974 8:00 p.m. Processional . . . . . Our stay in Nashville was highlighted by a visit at the Grand Ole Opry, a day at Opryland, a visit to both the old and new opry houses and the Country Music Hall of Fame and a bus tour of Nashville during which we saw the homes of many Country stais. With a full schedule like this and many exciting ac- tivities it is no wonder that after our 4 day and 3 night journey we all returned quite exhausted. f age iii ,1 57 f -W E155 Q - 5 ,X f E ,E ag 'QSXZFY ZQ E , V sw . 1 G 1 i' ii? , Q 'H as li -5' 15 ff p , :fa M y is- yg A .V 5 i is ' - I ' vie' H V, Q L.,-.1 5' l 6 533 v ie! Although the boys didn't win many games this year more than simple statistics must be taken into consideration. Toward the end of the season a great improvement could be seen. With daily workouts to develop skills and in- creasing game experience our small but determined team began to meet the game challenge with more punch and Won some games as a result. But just as the team was getting started the season ended. However, in one last effort in sectional tournament, they played Mediapolis fthe Conference champsj and showed that despite the outcome of previous games we were not a team to be ignored. Even though the LV. only won one game they still had the good experience for the future as vaxh sity players. There were many girls on the team with the result that most girls didn't get to play much but we hope the experience will serve them well in the future. The Jr. High wrestlers had a very successful season under the coaching of Mr. Siegel. The boys ended their season with six wins and three losses. They've worked quite hard after school during the week and with the practicing many good prospects for the high school team have come about for the future.
