HI TURY UF THE CLASS UF ln 1960, the Senior Class of today, prepared for a 12 year expedition of our planetary system. Training for the space trip in the Kindergarten stage were, John Baird, Colleen Blake, Steven Bowser, Melodee Callahan, Becky Calvin, Don Crow, Cheryl Cunningham, Cindy Dopler, Debbie Hall, Karla Hamilton, Nancy Harris, Robbin Heisler, Alex Giese, Debbie Jacobs, Wayne Johnson, April Ker, Sharon Kerr, Rick Mabeus, Mark Martin, Kirk McElhinney, Pam McMullen, Elizabeth Mehaffy, Dwight Pierce, Roger Richers, Jackie Robb, Carla Sands, Danny Thomas, Tony Thomas, David Todd, David Vickers, Dick Weikert, Cathy and Christy Wilson, and Martha Woodruff. In- command of the 34-man crew was Mrs. Richers. But as the one -year training period ended and the take-off time neared, she along with Steven Bowser and Sharon Kerr could not make the trip because they were unable to complete the training qualifications, and Mrs. Johnson became our commander. The lst Stage of the trip was take -off. With T-minus 30 minutes and counting, a group of scientists from Russia joined us, and they were, Robin Calvin, Richard Harris, Rhonda Jacobs, Raymond Parkhurst, Nancy Smith, Randy Smith, Tony Wixom, and Mrs. Beck their commander. We spent this first year in space orbiting the Earth and collecting important atmospheric information. The 2nd Stage of our journey found us visiting the moon, which We discovered to be made of blue cheese . I-Iere six moon people, Nancy Earnest, Janet McDonald, Dean and Deana Noble, Debbie Richardson, Terri Wiggins and Mrs. DeYarmen their leader, were added to our crew, bringing along some of their precious cheese. Debbie Hall, Richard Harris, Raymond Parkhurst, Jackie Robb, and Dick Weikert, were left on the moon to study it and its' inhabitants, but spent much of their time just eating cheese. In the 3rd Stage of our expedition we landed on Mars and picked up a couple of Martians, who were, Karla Hamilton, LeAnne Michalson, and Mrs. I-Ietherington. Debbie Hall rejoined us, bringing back valuable infor- mation of the moon, and a new supply of cheese. Colleen Blake, Robin Calvin, Cheryl Cunningham, Nancy Smith, Terri Wiggins, and Tony Wixom remained on Mars to do their study. Journeying on to the planet Jupiter in the 4th Stage of the flight, Lonnie Goodwin and Miss Brown became part of our crew, and Cheryl Cunningham rejoined us, not lik- ing the Martians, but she did discover that little green Martians made the Mars Candy Bars we all loved so well back on Earth. And while we were on Jupiter, Pam McMullen and Roger Richers went out to exploring the 12 moons of Jupiter, never to return again. In the Sth Stage of our trip we landed on Saturn letting out Debbie Richardson to study the rings of Saturn,f .and picking up Debbie and Randy Norton and Mrs. Caldwell, along with Raymond Parkhurst who was supposed to bring us back more information of the moon, but instead, only brought information about the moon maids! The 6th Stage of our space exploration took us to Uranus, the planet of monsters, where we rescued Mark Renoux and Myrtle Strawhacker. I-lere we also re- plenished our fuel and food supply. Lonnie Goodwin, Robbin I-leisler, Randy Smith, Debbie and Randy Norton decided they would like to spend some time trying to 17 tame some of the monsters on Uranus, and so would not be making the rest of the journey with us. The next stop Was Neptune, the number 7 Stage, where 2 natives, Ellen Ketchum and Vickie Rhode, from this planet joined us, and We left Mark Renoux andCathy and Christy Wilson to discuss better weather with old man Neptune. Stage 8 found us on the planet of Pluto, where we were joined by Deanna Mastin and Angela Walker. We also left off Elizabeth Mehaffy and David Todd here to referee the fights between Pluto and Popeye. After leaving Pluto, we began our long journey to the sun, stopping this time on the dark side of the moon to re- fuel. Becky Calvin, Cheryl Cunningham, Ellen Ketchum, and Angela Walker stayed behind to be the first women to explore the dark side of the moon. Here we discovered some new inhabitants, Chris Laucamp and Daniel Rice. As we headed on to our next planet we passed the Big Dipper only to discover Betty and Bill Tomson. Since our journey to the sun had been long and uneventful, we de- cided to bring them aboard our space ship, thi.nking they might be good entertainment. Stage 10 was spent covering the final miles from the moon to the sun. On our way we let off Chris Laucamp and Vickie Rhode at a space station to research the light and heat rays of the sun. Nearing the end of our space flight, now in Stage 11, we found ourselves on Mercury. Thinking it would be nice to have some of these people aboard, we brought Pam Rude, Debbie Richardson and Mary Nan Winter along. Here Myrtle Strawhacker stayed behind to learn about these new creature's ways of life. It was later decided that Debbie Jacobs Coppes would also stay being and help Myrtle. The 12th Stage was our last a.nd final stage before we journey back to the planet Earth. As we orbited the planet Venus, some of our crew members were out on a space Walk, and while they were out there, Daniel Rice just walked away, never to be heard from again. And at cer- tain times during the year there is an eclipse, we can see Dan's shadow Waving farewell as he slowly sinks into the west. As our journey came to an end, we prepared to take off from Venus, but discovered there was an unexpected fuel shortage and found it impossible to return to Earth. Through a unanimous vote, which is very unusual for us, the crew of 1973 decided to stay on Venus. There were 19 of the original 34 who began training those 13 long years ago. And these 19 were, John Baird, Melodee Callahan, Don Crow, Cindy Dopler, Alex Giese, Debbie I-Iall, Karla Hamilton, Nancy Harris, Wayne Johnson, April Kerr, Rick Mabeus, Mark Martin, Ki.rk McElhinney, Dwight Pierde, Carla Sands, Dan Thomas, Tony Thomas, Dave Vickers, and Martha Woodruff. Completing the 28 man crew by having joined us through the years were 3 Nancy Earnest, Debbie Richardson Hartman, Rhonda Jacobs, Janet McDonald, Raymond Parkhurst, Pam Rude, Betty Tomson, Bill Tomson, and Mary Nan Winter. Here we'll discover the meaning of life as we discover ourselves in this new and exciting world, and as we await the challenge of making our life a little more peaceful.
