History of the C1ass'of1972 Way back in 1959, the senior class of '72 boarded the bus for a 13-year journey together. There were ll girls and twenty-one boys, for a total of 32, going along for the ride. They were Beth Caldwell, Janice Caparoon, Joan Daniels, Terry Delzell, Rhoda Hostettor, Frances Johnston, Nancy Patton, Karen Stevens, Sandra Stotlar, Brenda Wolfe, Denise Woodruff, Joel Arthur, Tony Bryant, Robin Calvin, Ricky Dopler, Kevin Hall, Kirk Heater, Royce Heitmeier, Tim Johnson, Mark Keltner, Tom Klaus, Mike Knight, Lance McAllister, David Mehaffy, David Nollen, Leroy Pankey, David Pierce, Roger Samuels, Ricky Simmons, Dale Shuster, Jimmy Tackenburg, and Victor Taylor. We were all under the supervision of Mrs. Richers. Our first stop was first grade. There we were disciplined by Mrs. Beck. During this year we lost 3, who were Nancy Patton, Leroy Pankey, and Joel Arthur, and gained 5, Nancy Smith, Kenneth Hudson, Kenneth Knight, Robert Richenberger, and Billy Lacey. This made a total of 34 going on to Mrs. DeYarman. At this stop, we lost 3 more people, Brenda Wolfe, Tony Bryant, and Robin Calvin. But to take the place of those 3, we gained 4 more, Rhonda Murphy, Jean Wixom, Edward Wixom, and LyNann Jacobs. This left us with 13 girls and 21 boys for Mrs. Hetherington to handle. V It was during this part of our journey that, due to uncontrollable circumstances, we lost Joan Daniels, Nancy Smith, Mike Knight, Kenneth Hudson, and Kenny Knight. Laura Jones and Roy Cooper got on at this stop, but they left us before our next stop. With Miss Brown as our fourth grade teacher, we were on the right road to success. Here we gained Kathy Frazer, and Kenny Knight, fwho evidently decided to come back and try it againlj . Glenn Williams and Johnny Duncan also came to us then. This time though, we lost Mike Knight, Lance McAllister, and Edward Wixom. Fourth grade ended, and we drove on to fifth grade. Entering fifth grade we had 29 members for Mrs. Caldwell to take care of . But this seemed to be a bad year, because 5 students decided to leave us. They were Rhonda Murphy, Jean Wixom, Richard Reimers, who had joined us only that year, Victor Taylor, and Johnny Duncan. This left only 24 to carry on to the high school building. The first of our junior high experiences were really something. As we traveled on, we all realized the road was getting rougher. During the summer between fifth and sixth grades, we lost Karen Stevens, and Jim Tackenburg. This left only 22 students, but we did gain a few. Rick Calvin, Lynn Noble, and Nancy Courtney decided to join the group. But before the year was over, we lost Nancy Courtney, along with Kenny Knight and Billy Lacey. We entered the seventh grade with 24 students. The ride through seventh grade was rather dull since we never lost or gained anyone. Our next stop along the trip was at eighth grade. Here we gained 3 new passengers. They were Donna Evans, Janet Pulse, and Don Carlson. With the beginning of our first experience in high school, our journey was on it's last stage. This time we gained Dennis Mastin as a passenger and lost Dave Mehaffy, who was in a hurry to NASA to be a scientist. The year soon rolled by and our next stop was tenth grade. That year We declined in number by losing Lynn Noble, Dale Shuster, Rick Calvin, and Dennis Mastin. We only had one new member board the bus and that was Teri Gabeline. Our junior year started with 23 members accounted for, but with only one more year, Dave Nollen decided to leave us. Our last and final stop of the trip was that of our senior year of high school. Three more passengers hopped aboard to finish the year out. They were Dave Rice, Teresa Heater, and Shirley Dearth. This made a grand total of 26 graduating in the class of '72. In all, 17 made the journey together all the way, and those of the senior class today are: Beth Caldwell, Janice Caparoon, Terry Delzell, Rhoda Delzell, Frances Johnston, Sandra Stotlar, Denise Woodruff, LyNann Jacobs, Donna Evans, Janet Pulse, Teri Gabeline, Shirley Dearth, Teresa Heater, Rick Dopler, Kevin Hall, Kirk Heater, Royce Heitmeier, Tim Johnson, Mark Keltner, Tom Klaus, Dave Pierce, Roger Samuels, Rick Simmons, Bob Richenberger, Dave Rice, and Don Carlson. Although we declined in num- ber since l959, we still have the same friendship and loyalty to one another that we started out with. .As for our last excursion together, we will soon be boarding the bus that will once again take us on a journey. Although the trip won't be quite as long, the memories of this final senior class trip will linger on in the minds of the class of '72 forever and a day.
