1971 Class History Today's society is a space-age one. Man has prepared for years and has now made a giant step to the moon. 'The class of '71 is now, too, ready to take the giant step out of high school and into the future. But we also have prepared and learned for years. In 1958, nineteen girls and thirteen boys entered school for their first stage of learning under the di- rection of Mrs. Rabedeaus. They were Betty Bang, Carolyn Carr, Donna Evans, Barbara Goodnow, Carolyn Hamilton, Ann Harbison, Pennie Kerr, Sandra McKinney, Lois McKeovxm, Mary Nichols, Patricia Noss, Con- nie Thomas, Martha Vickers, Cathy Weikert, jean Wick, jill Wick, Michelle Wilson, Cindy Heisler, Carol Ann Brown, Leonard Biggerstaff, David Barth, Raymond Delzell, Kim Hewitt, Nick Hobbs, Ion Inghram, Kenneth Knight, Mike Knight, Doug Lee, Kurt Stevens, jeff Tackenberg, jeff Wilkerson, and jimmy Smith. The next stage found the class under the guidance of Mrs. Freeda Beck. Several new students were added to the roster. 'They were Marie Lambert, Wayne Anderson, Rick Calvin, Billy Taylor, and Roger Innis. Steve Patton entered but later left during the year. Others who left were Barbara Good.now, Michelle Wil- son, Carol Ann Brown, and Mike Knight. During this year, the class was saddened by the death of Patricia Noss. Mrs. Elva DeYarman became the next commander. Alan Giese became a member of the group and Mi- chelle Wilson re-entered. Those who got off at this stage were Sandra McKi.nney, jean and jill Wick, Ken- neth Knight, jeff Tackenberg, and Wayne Anderson. Susan Parkhurst joined the class at the third stage. Richard Murphy also joined the class but left later in the year, and jeff Tackenberg re-entered. Mrs. Hetherington was the instructor at this stage of our learning process. Roger Innis was the only student to leave during the year. Miss Luella Bromm was the next teacher for the eager pupils. Susan Richardson was the only new student and no one left. The next year the students walked up two more flights of stairs to come under the guidance of Mrs. M11- dred Caldwell. Lynn Noble, Donna Garnsey, Dennis Dietrich, Richard Richardson, and Roger Garnsey all joined the crew while Betty Bang and Billy Taylor moved on. Two other students, David Oyster and Donald Norton came and left during the year. Flying out of the grade school found the students landing in the high school. In the sixth stage of our learning, Mary Branscorn, Steve Boline, and Bruce Lundvall joined our efforts. Susan and Richard Richard- son, Lynn Noble, and Jeff Tackenberg, moved during the year. The seventh stage had no new members and saw the loss of four boys. They were Kurt Stevens, Rick Cal- vin, Steve Boline, and Bruce Lundvall. Shirley Strawhacker became the only new member of the class at the eighth stage. Those who left were Mary Branscom and Ci.ndy Heisler. The last leg of the training schedule began with the entrance of the class into high school. 'I'he ni.nth stage found two new members entering the class. They were Merlin Rohde and Larry Pulse. Two students left before the next school year. 'They were Donna Evans and Mary Branscom. The next year found four new students in the class. They were Candace Ctmningham, Sandra and Ginger Hilliard, Dennis Tillotson, and David Rice. Four students who left were Michelle Wilson, Donna Garnsey, Ginger Hilliard, and Roger Garnsey. Dale Schmidt entered and later left. Three students, Charlotte Tomson, Greg Beights, and Robert Hobbs, joi.ned the class during the eleventh stage, but Greg Beights and Robert Hobbs were only with the group a short ti.me. Other students to leave were Candace Cunningham, Sandra Hilliard, Merlin Rohde, and Dennis Tillotson. The twelfth and final stage started in 1970 with 25 students, i.ncludi.ng our foreign exchange student Doris Nachtigall. Of the 32 students who started kindergarten back in '58, 16 went through all the grades to- gether. The class has worked and studied hard f most of the timej to reach this final frontier. We have left only to graduate and become conscientious citizens of the world. Truly we are Finished Yet Begirming
