miar dlass History The M .S. C. S. streamlined special gave a shrill blast as it rounded the bend into Morning Sun central station. Waiting eagerly for their first train ride were ten little girls and nine young boys. A very pretty hostess, Mrs. Rabedeaux, tenderly helped each little traveler climb on board to start on a trip that would make thirteen all too brief stops before they would come to the end of their trip. As each name was called out, each child was now a student and took his place, Becky Borgstrand, Jane Brown, Louise Daniels, Kay De Yarmen, Jeanne Dill, Georgeann Griffith, Pam- ela Keltner, Patricia McClure, Carolyn Ogle, Janet Walker, Rex Berkhoff, Dennis Callahan, Johnny Haight, Michael Hamilton, Lawrence Hudson, Mickey Johnson, Steve Kellogg, Michael Minnis and David Nichols. A very friendly lady conductor, Mrs. Beck and two little girls, Irene Giberson and Mary Jane Robb, joined our train and we were bound for the second stop along our route. When the whistle blew again we could see waiting at the station, Mrs. De Yarman and a new little girl Barbara Smith. This is where Carolyn Ogle, Michael Smith, James Nichols and Jan Nichols left our train. Dennis Hartman, Robert Knight and.Destiny Calvin added three more boys to climb on board. Taking tick- ets and handing out report cards now was Mrs. Hetherington. Before we had reached the next stop, Jane Brown, Rex Berkhoff and Johnny Haight were ready to get off and three newcomers arrived, Howard Innes, Jerry Lowe and Chester Jones. All on board for the next stop were fourth graders, who were carefully disciplined by Mrs. Brown. Our trip was saddened by the death of Brian McAllister. When the next station came into view a new conductor, a Mrs. Caldwell took charge. Barbara Smith and Chester Jones left the train as Jean Harris came on. Mrs. McElhinney was calling roll now and six girls and eleven boys answered present. This included a new girl Sandy McCune and a boy Randy Richardson. Three girls and one boy left our train at the next stop. Louise Daniels, Jean Harris, Mary Jane Robb and Jerry Lowe. About three quarters of the way to our destination, four more passengers boarded and two stepped off the train. Only four more stops before the M.S., C.S. special comes to the end of its run. Some- where between those stops, Freshmen turned Sophomores and Juniors became sophisticated Seniors. Now the end of the line is in view and fourteen high school students are ready to step off as grad- uates. Six girls and eight boys reached the end of their journey. Ten of group made the entire trip straight through. They include Jeanne Dill, Georgeann Griffith, Pamela Keltner, Patricia McClure, Dennis Callahan, Lawrence Hudson, Mickey Johnson, Steven Kellogg, Michael Minnis and David Nichols. Diane Pulse, Larry Tisor, Leslie Edwards and Sandy McCune complete the fourteen travelers. It was a happy journey, full of work and jun. Now we board another train leaving here, to des- tinations unknown, so grant us journeying mercies. Class of 69
