'63 Ygfi- 1 W1 TRACK First row: Greg Reiman, Mick Johnson, Jim Garnsey, Tom Lee, Don Dill, Dennis McDonald, Rich Bryant, Denny Callahan. Second row: Mark Mabeus, Danny Crow, Percy Springsteen, Steve Kellogg, Jim Hostetter, John Corey, Dan Sands, Doug Buster, Ron Samuels, Destiny Calvin. This year's track team, though few in number, were strong in com- petitive spirit. Three previous school records were broken. While participating in all meets, Dennis McDonald steadily lowered his time in the l2O low hurdles until he had broken the school record, and then his own, several times. His final accounting was 20.7 which he ran at the State Meet in Cedar Rapids, while placing 4th in the event. This year's 440 and 880 yard relay teams, composed of Tom Lee, Rich Bryant, Mick Johnson a nd Dennis McDonald, broke the school's 440 yard relay record with the time of 46.5. This they accomplished twice: once at the Fort Madison Relays and again at the District Meet at Tipton. At the District Meet in Tipton they won four of the five running events, placing second in the meetand also placing second at the Fort Madison Relays. The medley relay team, Don Dill, Greg Reiman, Mick Johnson and John Corey, broke the old school record while participating at the Fort Mad- ison Relays. The new school record is 5:48.2. Union 9- 2 H Burlington O-10 T Wapello 5- 1 T In the sectional tournament pla at Columbus Junction, the boys defeated Waco, 8-E. In the second game the boys were defeated by Wapello by a score of 3-2. They finished up a fine season by tieing for second place in the conference. Bud Callahan, pitcher, was elected to first team all-conference. Bruce Stotlar, catcher, Tom Lee, third base, Rick Inghram, shortstop, and Mark Minnis, first base, received honorable mention.
