6 Class History It seems like only yesterday the class of '57W started out in the primitive stone age of 53 - 54 with 50 cave men and women assigned to the long journey to nC1vil1zat1on'. Their first step to civilized ways was to choose their leaders. Duane Carr was chosen First Commander and Dale Boerma Second Commander. Lennie Beemer carved the stones leaving a record of travel and Forrest Hall stood guard on the treasure chest. Our Chelf Scout was Mr. McHaney, who later chose a different route and was replaced by Mr. Dunn. The cave people in this first march to civ- ilization were as follows, Lawrence Anderson, Joe Aquine, Fillaminia Anaya, Janice Arndt, Sally Aymor, Floyd Benson, Lawrence Benson, Nelda Benson, Hazel Bishoff, Betty Boone, Gary Brooks, Larry Burden,Patty Croff, Wlnlfred Clark, Jerry Dickerson, Shirley Dunlap, Richard Dysard, Joan Ford, Carol Furness, Donald Gilbert, Phyllis Helms, Hazel Howe, Larry Hendricks, Marilyn Howe, Floyd Kamphouse, Darell Louck, James Male, Leslie Male, Pat Miles, Charlene Platz, Corlyn Reynolds, Allen Reichert, Terry Richardson, Ruth Scharaswak, Sandra Schoonmaker, Carl Staffen, Dorothy Staffen, Larry Staffen, Shirley Staffen, Joann Toliver, Richard weed, Anna Wltmer, Richard witmer, Yvonne Woutila, Lowell Yanks, and Alan York. Barbara Juerlnk joined our ranks during the first advance. The treasure chest was loosing its value so we stopped to have bake sales and a roller skating party. As we advanced in our civilized ways into the millennia 5M -55, we chose Sandra Schoonmaker as First Commander and Duane Carr Second Commander. Winlfred Clark took over the carvings, while Nelda Benson pulled duty on our treasure chest. Joan Brooks, and Donald Sabaitls joined our advance here and the following had chose other routes, Joe Aqulne, Fillamina Anaya, Hazel Blshoff, Betty Boone, Larry Burden. Phyllis Helms, Larry Hendricks, Hazel Howe, Floyd Kamphouse, Allen Recichert, Corlyn Reynolds, Ruth Scharaswak, Dorothy Staffen, Joann Toliver, Yvonne Woutlla, and Barbara Juerlnk who later rejoined our ranks, making our number, for the second advance, 38. Mr. Dunn again, continued to pull scout duty. Once more our treasurery was getting low so we stopped to hold bake sales at McNulty's trading post. As we continued our advance to civilization in the millenia 55- 56 we chose Forrest Hall First Commander and Carl Steffen as Second Commander. The carving of travel records was continued by Jean Brooks while Joan Ford took care of the treasure chest. Mr. Dunn contlnued his scout duties with wisdom and Mrs. Parker joined our ranks as assistant scout. Somewhere along the previous march the following people chose other ways, Lawrence Anderson, Floyd Benson, Lawrence Benson, Nelda Benson, Patty Croff, Dick Dysard, James Male Leslie Male, Pat Miles, Charlene Platz, Donald Sabaitis, and Alan York. Nancy Smith Joined our ranks during the year to make our number 27. Again we stopped to hold ice cream soclals, a scrap iron drive, the Junior Play and the Junior-Senior Prom, to laeve our treasure chest standing with sufficient funds to continue our l ast lap of the long march.
