That afternoon Mr. Jones became ill and was taken to the hospital. He had some important letters he wanted to dictate so I went over to the hospital to take them. Whom should I meet whenl first walked ln the door but Janet Greenawald, or maybe I should say Doctor Greenawald She agreed to meet me at dinner that night to reminls old times. When we met that night Janet told me that she had llked nursing so well she decided to go further with her schooling and become a doctor. She still had three years of school left and was just an assistant to another doctor right now. When I ask her where Ruth Vernon was, Janet replied, Why dldn't you know that Ruth got married? No, I sald, who to ? She married the Superintendent of the Morley High School, Larry Williams, who was In school with us up to our Iuntor year. Ruth ls teaching the primary, first and second grades there. f'What are your plans for the future J'anet ? I asked. Do you plan on marriage soon 7 No, said Janet, I have decided to make the medical profession my career and I'm not going to get married for ten or fifteen years at least. What ls Lucille Yarrtngton dolng ? I asked. Well the school has grown so at Morley that Lucille was hired as office girl. She files, takes dlctstlon and does other odd jobs around the school . replied Janet. Do you know what Bob Hora ls dolng ? Janet asked me. Yes, I answered, Bob was always quite speedy in shorthand and when he got out of school he took more training and is now a court reporter at the courthouse. I see him quite often as I go to the courthouse during Mr. Jones trials and take notes. Janet and I continued talking about school days until the manager of the restaurant finally asked us if we wouldn't leave as they would like to close. 12
