Junior Class Plan' LOVE IS IN THE AIR YOUTH, ADULTS, AND A IET. The air referred to in the title is one that at its first gush is charged with adult preoccupations and youthful frustrations. The Truitt children have such problems as: l. Gladys maneuvering Roscoe to propose. 2. Clarence trying to find out the name of that new girl. 3. Maggie facing up to the fact that every boy she invites to the Girl Scout shindig has a toothache. On the adult side, Elmer is a pretty good dan and Gert is a warm-hearted, pleasant mother--but, in both instances, there are some weak sides discernible to the children, who are not abashed at holding up the mirror to their parents . The air takes a zephyrous turn when Mr. Truitt wins a prize, a ride in a jet plane, for a bit of successful campaigning for his lodge. He becomes a hero to the children, but alas for Dad: he wishes he'd never heard of a jet plane. He has a nightmare, complete with a ghostly montage of warning voices, and he enjoys a portentous visit from his c1ub's auxilliary group, The Lady Buffaloes, singing, of all things, a significant version of Ghost Riders In The Sky ! -- which adds to his panic. episodes, mirthful and poignant, before lovable old Gramps biggest surprise of the play. Senior Class Play ONE WILD NIGHT FROM WHEEL CHAIR TO Bl-IDCLAMJ. Because his-forebearers have been neurotic invalids, Rodney, though a healthy young man, refuses to believe he can live a normal life. He spends his time in a wheel chair and insists on cod-liver oil. But when Aunt Myra arrives, bringing young and healthy Charlotte Allen, life begins to have new meaning Ironically, then, Rodney overhears a conversation of Dr. Bell's which leads him to believe he is really about to die. At Iodwillow's instigation, and because Charlotte likes virile men, Rodney decides to crowd a lifetime of activity into his last 24 hours. He gives away his house as a girls' dormitory: he reveals to the newspapers vital information on the town's leading gangster, Scorpio: he dashes about performing all kinds of errands of mercy--and then lies down to die. The next morning, with the house already grieving over his expected demise, Rodney wakes to find himself not only alive, but feeling better than ever. Then things really begin to happen. People clamor at the door, crowding into the house. They malign him: they praise him. Bedlam reigns and, yes, romance flowers. It is Iodwillow, with his Boy Wonder Chemical Set, who effects an unexpected and uproarious end to One Wild Night. Rodney Dodd . Henrietta . . . Iodwillow . . .
