Consequently, where tho e are shortcomings in an annual, there were, more than likely, shortcomings in the Senior Class that produced it. The 197h PROMETHEAN has its shortcomings! These shortcomings are traceable to a staff without a plan and a Senior Class without commit- ment. When a class is more content to criticize than to contribute, it puts itself in a position to take whatever it can get. And so we pass on the I97h PROMETHEAN. It is not a bad book, but it could have been a better one. It is greatly enhanced by a fabulous cover, designed by a fabulous and talented artists, Ronald Roberson, who also did the attractive divider sketches. The Editor this year had a dual burden. She labored simultaneously with giving birth to a beautiful bouncing baby girl and trying to put together a college annual. DonaIda Antonia Chandler (the baby) turned out perfectly—the yearbook did not. We commend the Editor's sense of priority. The most glaring deficiencies of this yearbook are the numerous blank pages that appear. I could have filled them in, but I did not. They reflect too accurately the many blanks that the staff drew in getting commitment from the Senior Class. We leave these pages empty in hope that each senior, in his own way, will compensate for them by giving them content of his own liking. Sincerely, Burney J. Hollis PROMETHEAN Adviser oops! oops! 39 IN MEMORIAM I Elizabeth Hy ze IN MEMORIAM A2 43 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Floyd Taliaferro Angela Gaither....... Cassandra Wilkerson Randolph Wilson . . . .... About inflation and rising costs. If you're in the market for a new car, these things might even influence what size car you buy. But before you make up your mind, you really ought to think about how you're going to use your new car. For instance, the family of six trying to get by with a small size car may soon find out that a full size or mid-size car isn't an extravagance- it's a necessity. On the other hand, it might be just right for them as a second car or a personal car. To help you choose the right car for your needs. Ford Motor Company will send you a free book. It's the 1974 edition of Car Buying Made tasier.” And it tells you the pros and cons for the different size cars. Part I is about cars in general—types styles, engines, options, etc.—advantages and disadvantages. This information can help you regardless of which make of car you buy. Part II covers 1974 Fords, Mercurysand Lincolns —all the models, features, specifications, even prices. There's no other book like it. ALUMNI AND FRIENDS Welcome to the one hundred-seventh Com- mencement exercise of Morgan State College. With these exercises today, the College ends another academic season which, hopefully, has been fully responsive to the various publics we are committed to serve. Today you have come to share with the Class of 1974 what is perhaps its finest hour. As you participate in these ceremonies to- day. we invite you to reflect with us on what has been an outstanding year in the history of Morgan State College. Having completed a two-year period of self-study involving facul- ty. staff, students, and alumni, no area of the College's program and mission has gone un- examined. We have continued to put forth the most dedicated effort to provide a first rate education for the men and women who have elected to study here. Now that we have generally charted our future course.-we look forward to the years ahead when through an excellent faculty, outstanding facilities, a viable curriculum, and adequate resources we shall make an even greater impact on our students and community. For the nearly one thousand men and women comprising the Class of 1974, today is commencement. For Morgan State College, it is also commencement. Both the Class of 1974 and the College know very well the literal meaning of the word commence- ment . Inherent in the meaningof that word is the challenge of the future and the inspira- tion of this hour. We are pleased to have each of you as partners to our future and wit- nesses to this happy occasion. King V. Cheek.
