A Brief History of Morgan In IBBG. when the embers of the campfires of the Civil War wore inst dying. thc idea at establishing a school for Negroes was born in the minds 0! five great men. On December 24. 1886. Thomas Kelso. William Harden. William Daniels. and William 8. Hill were called together by 88110;: Levi Scott. He presented them with $5.000. an appropriation lmm the Metht odist Episcopal Church This amount was the nucleus 0! a Iund to establish a school to train the recently treat slaves fut leadership and the Christian ministry. The next day. the names of John lanuhun. chry W. Dmlwlvy. Hth H. Bond. James H. Brown. Charles Reid. and Isaac P. Hindes wen: added to those of the men whu had met the pren'ous day.
