Dedication How many men can lay just claim to the ideals embodied in FREEDOM, THOUGHT, and CREATIVITY ? How many personify the full meaning of this thought? This individual is rare, but one of the greatest experiences of our lives was just such a man. In a brief instant, John F itzgerald Kennedy gave new life and meaning to the words freedom and democracy. No longer were they merely words, but living, breathing entities. And, in a brief instant, he was gone. For each of us, the depth of his loss was a personal tragedy; but, for each of us, the ideals he lived for should be goals to personal triumph. We do not yet know how great a President Mr. Kennedy was, but we may be certain he was a truly great man. To JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY we humbly dedicate this book.
