June 3, 1963, will be a momentous clay in the lives of graduating seniors, their families, and well-wishers. However, at this juncture, the senior should stop, reflect, and cogitate on how to give meaning to his life in this age of turbulence and anxiety. The following imperatives will facilitate one’s achieving at a high level in this world of un- certainty. To begin with, one must not be guilty of settling for low success, as opposed to risk- ing high failure. Secondly, one must cultivate a high regard for moral values as a basis for per- sonal and social behavior. Thirdly, one must not slip into a state of non-questioning and com- placent acceptance of issues in the political, economic, and social realms. The fourth impera- tive is that one must view education as an unending process and must always place a high pre- mium on the development of the mind. Finally, it would be utopian to think that any institution of higher education could produce at the end of four years perfectly enlightened students. However, our graduates should be aroused and curious enough to ask intelligent questions and to continue throughout their lives to reject a comfortable and smothering status quo.
