TO THE CLASS OF 1963: Do you remember your first day here as a freshman when the President asked each of you to shake hands with the person sitting next to you —and you wondered why until he told you that handshake symbolized the fact that only about half of the entering class would persist until graduation and thus merit congratulations? That was the beginning of the “Lines That Link, 1959-1963.” Now you have successfully come to the end of your undergraduate careers. And so. Congratulations! As you look back over your college years you have many pleasant memories —these you will increasingly cherish in the years ahead. As I look back with you, I think of the extent to which Morgan State College has made an effective contribution to your development. We have at- tempted to help you attain the Goals for the Morgan Student, to prepare you for constructive occupational participation, to encourage you to go the Second Mile in your endeavors, to help you discover your creative talents. Beyond these we have tried to give you a feeling of con- fidence in yourselves and to lift your levels of aspiration. The success of our efforts will be re- vealed only by the Lines That Link after 1963. In the years ahead your achievements will be our achievements, your failures our failures, your successes our successes. To each of you I extend best wishes and, again. Congratulations.
