October I2, 1960 To the Seniors of l96l Greetings: Lost Fall in my Convocation Address I told you that your principal task as college students was to prepare yourselves for full participation in American life. It is in the mood of that occasion that I have interpreted your theme, Reflection, Impressions, Prelude to Glory. There can be no question but that the challenges of the years immediately ahead will provide oppor- tunities for unusual achievement on your part. As career persons, some of you will enter new and exciting occupational fields while others will face the challenge of developing and adopting new techniques in old, familiar vocations. As citizens, all of you will play roles in the social, political and economic life of your country As individuals, every one of you will make scores of decisions upon the quality of which will depend the direction and degree of your personal development, The true value of your college education will only be measurable in terms of the intelligence, responsibility and creativity reflected in the many parts you will play in the post-college years, Those of you who go the second mile in the de- velopment of your talents will make 0 lasting contribution to the life of your communities, your notion, perhaps even of the world It is through such achievement that you will add lustre to the reDutotion of your Alma Mater, As you go to make your place in the world, we who remain here at Morgan will watch you hopefully, our pride growing as your achievements mount. Cordially, meanizzyllatigo MARTIN D. DVlUNS President
