HAVE GROWN AND CHANGED WITH THE YEARS The editors wish to bring back nostalgic memories of the Academy at the turn of the century in the following pages. The remainder of this publication is devoted to depicting the magnitude of the city of Chicago. Since the growth of the Academy has been synonymous with that of Chicago, it is only fitting to present a few historical facts regarding the former. ln l873, just two years after the Chicago fire, the Academy was founded. ln l892, the Academy became affiliated with the University of Chicago. The institution was coeducational until l9OU. ln l907, the Academy became a military school. Park Hall and Morgan Hall, two of the original buildings have disappeared from the scene. East Hall, West Hall, and the Gymnas- ium were built during the years l897-l9OG. Alumni Hall and Hansen Hall were constructed during the years l927-31. After 8U years, it is quite evident that the Morgan Park Military Academy will always play an integral role in the Chicago scene. Michigan Ave.
