CLASS OF l91lO Though the graduating class of February, l94O, may not be impressive in numbers, its roster nevertheless includes many outstanding personalities. Two of the first to be in the know were Ruth Eddy and lohn Riddle who were elected to the Student Council during their second semester at Iaycee. lohn was then elected chairman by the other members of the Council. This semester the masculine elef ment elected him president of the Men's Club. lohn also proudly displays a football letter. One of the outstanding co-eds is Margaret Griswold, skilled at riding and shooting. Another ardent equestrienne and member of the rifle team is Beth Dring. Marilou Scanlon has added to the interest of the Fortnightly by her timely fashion columns. Harry Boe- buck has kept himself in trouble by writing fraternity news. Ever notice how the Phem- tors make the headlines? Another member of this class who has swung into the spotlight is Bob Ehrler. Dur- ing the past year this lad has held the offices of Drama Club president, vice-president of the Saddle Bouncers, and a governor of the Men's Club. Bob also took part in a play which was given by the Drama Club and was manager of the basketball team. Some of the more seriously inclined sophomores are lim Maury, president of the En- gineer's Club, and Russell Iones, who besides working as a chemistry lab assistant has held the positions of Math Club president and vice-president of the Chemistry Club. Ray Ziegmont has made a name for himself in the athletic field. He held a regular position on the football team, as well as on the baseball team. Last September ninety-two hopeful young iitterbugs descended upon Iaycee and were caught up in a gay whirl of orientation programs, rush parties and registrations. After the first smoke cleared away they settled down to at least some degree of sobriety and learned that chess and bridge are favorite indoor sports, that the library is not the place for social gatherings and that little escapes the vigilant eyes of the Fortnightly gossip writers. Seriously, however, the freshman class which is the largest in the history of the school has made a fine record. ln February forty-nine new faces were added to their ranks mak- l19l

Two freshmen, Helen McCumber and lune Lindholm, were elected to the offices of secretary and treasurer respectively. A Outstanding among the journalistic minded students are Greta Ohman, Edward Mcl-lie, and Robert Pierce who have earned responsible positions dn the Fortnightly staff. After only one semester at Iaycee, Earl was elected chairman of the Student Council. He is also a member of the board of governors for the Men's Club. lack Garness and Bill Deiters both served on this board. Many freshmen have gained prominence in the various clubs. Priscilla Rice was elected secretary of the Drama Club and the Pre-medical club selected Helen Mc- Cumber as vice-president.
