Thomas S. Burke - Principal Between the covers of this yearbook is the chron- icle of the activities of the members of our student body during the current year - a portrayal in pic- tures and in prose of the students as they proceed through high school, each student in the pursuit of personal goals and objectives. The Statement of Philosophy for the Chicago Pub- lic Schools proclaims that Education deals with all aspects of life and aims at self-direction. According- ly, whether it is in academic endeavors, social ac- tivities, career orientation, or on the fields, courts and arenas of athletics, our young men and young women are observed in those pursuits which will lead them toward the realization of their ambitions and the fulfillment of their potential. Each activity makes its particular and peculiar contribution to the growth and maturation of each participant. Not the least important aspect in the development of each student is the spirit and tradition of Empehi which accents the pursuit of excellence in every endeavor.
