MIM faLe oyour Lab H Through the efforts of Quill and Scroll, Empehi has been a morale-builder all over the world. Week after week, notes have come streaming in to The Empehi News staff from ex-Empehites in all branches of the service, here and abroad, expressing their heartfelt thanks to Quill and Scroll for making it possible for them to receive The Emephi News through the mail. Please lceep sending itln A marine on an island in the Palau group wroteg There have been mo- ments when I thought nobody ever thought of me or remembered me, and just about then I got a copy of The Empehi News Once I remember receiv ing the paper while in combat on Iwo another time during a lonely time in apan and now here on Palau ulll and Scroll an mternational honorary society for high school Journal ists originally was founder in 1926 by a group of journalism teacher in order to develop a means of recognizing and rewarding high school journal ists of exceptional merit Three years later during May 1929 the Morgan Park high school chapter of uill and Scroll was founded For many years the faculty sponsor of the organization has been Miss Alma E Bauman teacher of English and journallsm at Empehi In 'the spring of 1942 when all Empehites had been jarred to face the reality of war uill and Scroll members recognized the servlcemens need of a touch of home and accepted as their responsibility the project of mail ing The Empehi News to Empehl alumni in service Every semester students have contributed willingly to the uill and Scroll fund for the mailing service In the staff room Empehites have often seen Miss Bauman editors of The Empehi News staff members cub reporters and even non members of The Empehi News staff faithfully addressing sealing stamping and sorting envelopes containing coples of The Empehi News to be sent to our servicemen T uill and Scroll in grateful recognition of a need fulfilled dedicate the 1946 Empehi WWW , tfffg W rf 'AWN ,f Y i1 V ff f f f 7 ff ff ja!!
