IN MEMORIAM Phyllis Grant flltlithreh fltlubr Rosemary Tlluubp THE splendors of the tirmament of time May be eclipsed, but are extinguished not: Like stars to their appointed height they climb. And death is a low mist which cannot blot The brightness it may veil. When lofty thought Lifts a young heart above its mortal lair. And love and lite contend in it for what Shall be its earthly doom, the dead live there And move like winds ot light on dark and stormy air. Adonais- Pe y By h Sh ll y Page 13

E IS THE PEP and energy of the school and commands the admiration of everyone. The rare per- sonality is Captain George G. Lorentz, our Assistant Principal. He plays his most important role in maintaining strict but fair discipline throughout the student body. Cap, as he is called, is the core of our Student Association. He has helped to build it up to What it is today, and under his superior guidance we have all had valuable character training and experience, which will more fully prepare us to meet adulthood. y Empehi is extremely proud to claim Cap as her own since 1919. He acted as R.O.T.C. and physical education instructor, until he obtained the position he is now holding. Because of his remarkable school spirit, he seldom misses a sporting event, and the ardent cheer- leading he renders has spurred our team to many a victory. Cap's uniailing good humor has been the source of numerous good times that we students have enjoyed in our four years at Morgan Park. A fathom- less source oi inspiration and understanding, he is indeed our best friend. A CAPT. G. G. LORENTZ Page 12

STUDENT-TEACHER RELATIONSHIPS Morgan Park students have the privilege of studying and working under the supervision and aid of an excellent faculty. All members of the teaching staff not only excel in their individual fields, but also lend their advice to the personal problems of Ernpehites. It is that willingness of the faculty to aid and advise which makes possible the successful functioning of Morgan Park's clubs and other extracurricular activities: for no student organization could carry on its program without a faculty adviser. For those students who seek positions during school or after graduation, the Placement Council was organized a few years ago. It aids students who must have a shortened program due to their work, and can also give sugges- tions and helpful hints to those applying for jobs. The N.Y.A. is another organ- ization which finds jobs for students in need of aid. The Adjustment Depart- ment is one which personally helps students who have encountered difficulties in their school life. A friendly relationship and spirit of co-operation is promoted by the Parent- Teachers' Association. Inspired by such a faculty, Ernpehi's students strive to reach the highest, and with their help Morgan Park can reach the top in everything we undertake. Page 14
