Who s Who, February Here's the oustanding man of the Febru- ary class. Senior president, Arthur Iohnsen, finished Morgan Park with rnost of the ma- jor offices of the school. Worked up through the line in the B.O.T.C. to commanding offi- cer and Lieutenant Colonel on the Brigade staff. Distinguished himself in scholarship as president of Tau Epsilon and as valedic- torian. All this he accomplished in charac- teristic quiet Without making an enemy, Camera in hand, Cathryn Williams snapped her way through Empehi. Started with a kodak and an enthusiasm for the beautiful, became Camera Club president, Morgan Park's cutest girl and one of the first ten in her class. Likes to pace the sideline during a football game and catch the team in an unusual play. Plays the violin to round out her cultural training. Voted the most popular girl in the senior class, Maurine Carrell, active and musical, has made herself known through a wealth of interests. Firmly established as a dancer by her second year, she went ahead into the Girls' G-lee Club and on to the Board of Con- trol through her leadership in these organ- izations. Her part in the Senior play will not be forgotten. An unusual combination of athlete and student is Bill Webbe. Started his career in his first year as a football player and fin- ished on the first string as left halfback. During last two years he really broadened out. Became a singer, swimmer and secre- tary of the Student Assocation. Bill was ac- tive in his fourth year on many committees. Remembered for his courtesy and charm. 1161

February The February class of '36 set a precedent which classes will probably try to copy tor years to come. The Senior prom was held away from the Ridge tor the tirst time in the history ot the school. On Tuesday, lanuary 28, about 350 students gathered in the main ballroom of the Lake Shore Athletic Club to dance to the music of Emil Flindt's orches- tra. This turnout was in marked contrast to the predictions made tor a dance so tar away. The method ot selling bids was also unique, tor they were bought before the place and band were determined. The plan was devised by Bud l-lettley, chairman ct the Prom committee, which included Ruth Dillman, Anita Goss, lohn Stearns, Bud Owles, and Carl Scheussler. The gift, part ot the money necessary to buy a new rug for Principal Baker's ottice, was chosen by a committee headed by Adele Palmer. Ruth Asher and a group ot helpers took charge ot the ring problem. Announcements were ordered and distrib- uted by Mary lane Horton and her assist- ants. ln charge ot the Commencement pro- gram was Bill Webbe. The Senior assembly was planned by Bill Overman and David Wylie. The Social committee was under the direction ot Maurine Carrell, vice-president of the class, and Iohn Houseman, treasurer, did the worrying about the budget. The other officers were Arthur Iohnson, president, and Cathryn Williams, secretary. Arthur Iohnson was also Valedictorian. Class day, climaxed by a social in which the costumes were supposed to imitate those worn to Barn dances, ended a week of cele- bration which was to change to sorrow grad- uation day when the students realized that they had completed their stay at Empehi. 1151
