If The club was organized two years ago for the purpose of promoting a greater is interest in and appreciation of authors and of various types of literature. 'f A' During the past year the club has been well represented in the various Q activities of the school, and has had some very interesting meetings. On Decem- W ber 16, the club sponsored the movie, Hot News, and the proceeds were given ,, f to the school Charity Fund. Y 1' In March several members and their guests went to see a well-known play, Y' Three Little Girls. After the play the club was entertained at the home of WF' Mrs. Hibbard, the new faculty adviser. Miss Condit and Miss Bauman became faculty advisers of the f ,+ club at this time. The usual semi-annual contest was dropped and membership , f by application was substituted. Members concentrated all their efforts upon H vw- publishing the Quilpen, a magazine containing stories and poems by members ,.,. t and by applicants for membership. J -+ The cover contest was responsible for the new Quilpen cover. The whole - F magazine carried a freshness and variety which interested the student body. H 4 A new feature this year was the Letters from Foreign Lands, written to Morgan 4- Park students by correspondents in China, Australia, India, Barbados Islands, if and the Philippines. Y-r Quilpen presented one school assembly. A one-act play entitled Financial S if Difficulties was the chief feature of the Assembly. Ruth Palmer, Florence Whyte, and Ruth Cole- f ,M man were engaged in securing the Seniors, activity histories and in characteriz- W, f ing each senior in one brief sentence. F Yi' Doris Swann and Hope Brown did excellent team-work in obtaining im- 'f QS, portant data from clubs and in planning a schedule for the taking of pictures. 6' 'V' Harriet Mason acted as corresponding secretary and executed important matters 'E' of clerical routine. Howard Meyers and Winthrop Warren planned the humor ' section. 'i W, At the same time our typists, Ruth Colman, Elizabeth Reid, or Ruth ,., l Nelson were constantly employed in giving the final touch to lists, and sched- F ,,., ules, and literary material. Their work eventually passed through the hands ,-.-, ' of Lucille Smock who acted as proof-reader. F 'f It would be impossible to name all the people who helped to make this Q ig year-book possible. Cthers that deserve special mention are: Bob Longley, who 'Q' was invaluable, especially in matters involving an intimate knowledge of the lf' administration of our schoolg Dolores and Harriet Lagerstrom, Betty Spangler, 'fi' and Ruth Palmer who managed the candy sales and plans for movies, Godin Gadsden, Subscription Manager, Franklin Reed, the Business Manager, and L Q James Cresap, the Advertising Manager. W, Whatever success the Annual has attained is due to the untiring efforts of Y- , Betty Roby, the editor-in-chief, the enthusiastic cooperation of the Art and 6' w Annual Staffs, and the skillful guidance and inspiring zeal of our adviser, Miss if F Elsie R.
