DIRECTORS High School Faculty Teachers showed their spirit A Faculty Spirit Committee was formed at the beginning of the 1987-88 school year by a number of teachers interested in helping promote school pride and spirit. This committee proved to be a unique and valuable part of the year. The involved teachers felt that with the excellent student body and facilities that VHS had, there should be more pride and spirit shown. With literally hundreds of ideas, the committee began the year at the first football game with a pep rally, yearbook signing, and hot dog dinner. Throughout the first semester, many activities were promoted with limited participation. ‘Tiger Han- kies’ and ‘Spirit Ribbons’ were sold. Pep assemblies were organized and the faculty purchased Tiger shirts to be worn on game days. One of the highlight activities was the Christ- mas Tea. A Christmas message, class competition, and punch and cookies were enjoyed by students and facutly. The goals of the spirit committee were not limit- ed to athletic events. They tried to inspire pride within students individually, academically, and so- cially. With the help and encouragement of Mr. Arnold new ideas were implemented to make the school a more productive and enjoyable place to learn and work. Trevis Brown; L.A.
