Stacey Bolton, Jana Rouse. Sherry Bogle. Susan Todd A total of 32 junior high girls played volleyball for Versailles this year. The seventh grade team record was 5-0. This was the sec- ond undefeated seventh grade team in four seasons for Coach Linda Scott. The seventh grade girls showed great overall talent and wanted to win each game. In their last match against California, the girls were down 10-2 and came back to win 16-14. The eighth grade finished the year at 2-3. Coach Scott said, Our team was better than the record showed, the talent is present and in time the girls will grow into a super team! 1. Captains meet before the game for special instruction 2. PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE The junior high football team set many goals for themselves at the onset of their season. Their main objective was to prepare themselves for playing high school football. Much emphasis was placed on skill and technique. Coach Dennis Hagedorn comment- ed, The success and knowledge which they gain here will help them in the future at the varsity level ' The junior high team was com- posed of both seventh and eighth graders and they played four games. JUNIOR HIGH LEARNS BASICS The junior High girls basketball team completed a successful season in 83-84. Participation was good with 18 girls on the seventh grade team and 15 girls on the eighth grade team. The seventh grade started the season with two losses but fin- ished the season with six con- secutive wins, giving them a record of 6-2. The eighth grade's record was 4-4. According to Coach Scott, some of the key players for the seventh grade were Mindy Spratt and Kelly Silkwood on offense and Becky Raines on defense. On the eighth grade team, Tami Randall led the team in scoring, steals, and rebounds. Christy Huffman was acknowl- edged as the team's floor lead- er. The junior high boys' teams this year were coached by Da- vid Wood. This year's teams learned that hustling can make up for lack of size and that teamwork is more important than playing as individuals. For the seventh grade, Tony Campbell was the leading scorer and rebounder and Scott Sherman was the best defensive player. The eighth grade's leading scorer was David White. Craig |oy and Trent Henry led in rebounds with Tony Edgar picked as the best defensive player.
