This was the staff of the 1972 MIRROR, and it has been our chief ambition to record enough of the happenings to enable each person connectedwith our school to be able to look back at the year and say it was fun. It has been our desire to do sowith respect to all people involved. Our work here has not been easy nor simple; but it has been enjoyable, and may each of you be able to reflect back through our efforts and see this step through life we took together as one that was both pleasant and beneficial. Sing no sad songs o'er me. Thanks to you for coming. And away we go!!! The History Of The Class Of 1972 The Class of 1972 has lived up to the prediction made in 1968, after our eighth grade graduation. They will leave their mark . The Class of '72 has left it's mark in each area. Our scholars, atheletes, actors, musicians, politi- cians, and just plain students have excelled in the things they did best. Each made a contribution. Not all of our contributions were to the good of the school. Some of us added to the confusion and disruptions of routine school life. It was all in fun, however. School seemed to be a little more exciting when plans were altered to suit our class. Although official school initiation was outlawed the preceding year, we received ours none the less. Approximate- ly eighteen of the freshman had a brother or sister in the senior class. They showed no mercy. Everyone attended school the next day tattoed from head to toe with magic marker. Winning two out of four queen contests wasn't bad for green freshman - Diane Garrison was Mirror Queen and Crystal Bennet was F.F.A. Sweetheart. Cindy Caine was Football Queen candidate and Jeanie Washburn was Basketball Queen candidate. The most memorable happenings during our sophomore year centered around biology class. This was the year of the trip to Max Allen's and the Aquarium, the biology dinner, and the field trip. A few sophomores ended up hitch- hiking home. If it hadn't been for the combined efforts of Janet Evans and our F.F.A, boys, we wouldn't have won a title that year. Janet was the F.F.A. Sweetheart. Margie Wallace was our Football Queen candidate, and Laura Hunter was our Basketball Queen candidate. Jeanie Washburn and Kathy Miller were our Mirror Queen candidates. Although we had always felt powerful at V.H.S., the fall of 1970 found us upper classmen. We'd been through a lot and grown up a little. We began to look for something constructive to do. We succeeded in entertaining the Seniors of '71 at a beautiful prom entitled Three Coins in the Fountain. The homecoming rain didn't drown our spirit as we elected Cecelia Click as our Football Queen. Janet Evans was our Basketball Queen Candidate and Mar- gie Wallace was Mirror Queen candidate. Our class succeeded in crowning Diane Baumgartner as F.F.A. Sweetheart. As predictions come true, so do dreams. We were finally seniors. Our foreign exchange student Maria Fernandez served as Football Queen Candidate. Teresa Sinclair was Basketball Queen, with Debbie Robinson and Crystal Bennet as candidates. Seniors again showed their power by crowning Robin Nash as Mirror Queen. Cecelia Click was F.F.A. Sweetheart candidate. Our school days are almost over. Each one is planning to go his separate way. Each will make a place for himself in the world. The memories shared at V.H.S. and all of our friends will never be forgotten. The people and ex- periences here have molded us into the kind of people we will be tomorrow. Surely each one will leave his mark on the world. Only then will our history be complete. 54 Margie Wallace Class Historian ABSENT . ..
