Of these 192, 145 have attended MCHS from 1968-1974. In 1968, we had a 7th grade class of244. Our loud, boisterous class added much spirit to the pep rallies, enough to win us the spirit jug contest. We carried that spirit with us in 1969 as we, now 256 in number, entered a brand new school, Hartselle Junior High. In 1970, we came back to MCHS with 239 enthusiastic Freshmen, who became involved in the band, chorus, art, clubs, sports, ballgames, cheering, pageants and other school activities. We all have those memories of our first homecoming dance. Our sophomore class had 217 students. That year we built afloat “Santa's Cuties for the Christmas parade. Our Junior year, usually every ones' favorite, really has memories, like getting our class rings, driving to school, the new juke box, a new English system and most of all the prom. All 207 classmates worked on the prom “Knights in White Satin, ”held May 4, 1974. 1974 ends our high school career at MCHS and we are proud to be graduates from Morgan County High School. 196 KATHY GAY DA R Good Citizenship Girl LYNNE HARRISON Betty Crocker Homemaker KATHIE LITTLE Girls' State 197 Tim Lockhart Valedictorian MCHS Band I-2-3-4 1st Place FFA Public Speaking 1-2 NHS-3-4 Interact — 4 TIGER TIMES Editor — 4 National Merit $1,000 Scholarship Mark Hendrix Salutatorian Football Letterman 2-3-4 Class Favorite 1-2-4 Class Officer 1-2-3 ROTC — 4-year-Scholarship NHS-3-4 Key Club 3-4 Baseball Letterman 3-4 199 8 Senior Who’s Who MOST ATTRACTIVE Luann Sims and Lonnie Lemmond MOST TYPICAL SENIOR Jimelle Slagle and Johnny Vest MOST DANGEROUS Susan Eddy and Danny Sartin MOST COURTEOUS Marla Brown and Chris Smith 202 WITTIEST Pam Edmundson and Mark Tanner MOST TALKATIVE Nancy Callaway and Jeff Helms BEST DRESSED Cindy Hogan and Kevin Teague 203 MOST AMBITIOUS Rhonda Pruitt and Dennis Bain MOST TALENTED Cindy James and Tommy McMinemon MOST ATHLETIC Sandra Newman and Mike Jones MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED BIGGEST TIME KILLER Jann Sides and Tim Lockhart Carolyn Prince and Mike Williams 204 FRIENDLIEST Shari Wakefield and Mike Smith BIGGEST FLIRT Charlene McLaughlin and Mark Roberts LAZIEST Leatha Hampton and Tony (Peanut) Martin 205 MOST DEPENDABLE Kathie Little and Spencer Clemons MOST POPULAR Margaret Gilchrist and Mark Hendrix BEST PERSONALITY Gayle Osborn and Roger Hagood • ■ ■ 206 CUTEST COUPLE Cathy Garner and Charles Puckett 207 MOST INTELLIGENT Jena Rutledge and Herman Sharpley 208 Seniors 1962-1974 Class Sponsors Mrs. Weinman Mrs. Myers Mrs. Qualls Mr. Townsend Mr. Booth Mr. Walker Graduation May 27,1974 Dr. Robert M. Guillot 210 211 212 Desiderata Found in old Saint Paul's Church 1692 Go placidly amid the noise and hast and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have a story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are bom of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its shame, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful! Strive to be happy!
