A MINISTRATIO D f MR, CLARENCE ROBINETT MR. JOSEPH H. FAIRBANKS MR. P. H. DAVIDSON Vice -Principal Superintendent P1'iUCiPa1 study of the novel, physiology and music. Com- mercial subjects, shop and laboratory science were added in 1915. The following year typing, stenography .and bookkeeping were offered ina summer school. Today most of these, as well as many other subjects, are in our curriculum. Night courses for adults were also important in the development of our community. Classes were open to those who wanted to learn English or Spanish. The study of mathematics was offered for men only. Then, as now, a three - member board of education had the responsibility for the educa- tional program. School administration was in the hands of the superintendent. For twenty- three years W. E. Lutz heldthis post, resigning Both elementary and high school classes were conducted inthe Longfellow School, shown at the right. It was constructed in 1902. In 1907 a second story was added to the brick structure. It had six rooms, an office, re- citation room and an apartment in the basement for thejanitor. Todayit is used for elementary classes. in 1939. Joseph H. Fairbanks, appointed at that time, still retains the position. He has been at the helm while our schools have expanded to in- clude seven buildings, ninety-eight faculty mem- bers and a total enrollment of nearly 2,500. Myrna Robison, who still lives in Morenci, was the only graduate of the 1906 class. The 1907- 08 term found seven pupils enrolled. Today almost six hundred students attend high school classes each year. Here and in the following pages we will in- troduce you to our school and to the people who make it what it is .......... X TF?
