Freshmen Join M. H. S. Student Body Friday September 7th, was one of the most ex- citing days in the high school career of the Class of '55, for it was the day they were officially made members of Morenci High. The girls, who came dressed as boys, and the boys, who were dressed as girls, added to the happy confusion at 2:15 when the sophomores drove them up the hill to the M and stood guard while the white washing process was carried out in the traditional way That night all was forgiven when the sophomores gave a dance in honor of the freshmen. The annual return dance for the sophomores was given by the freshmen on October 26, 1951 . Every- one agreed it was a great success. The year's activities were sponsored by Mrs. Louise Park, Miss Vida Whilhite, and Mr. William Fitzgerald. Class officers for the year were: Wayne Graham, president; Jack Mofield, vice-president; and Margarita Paez, secretary. Freshmen class officers for the year were: pres- ident, Wayne Graham, vice-president, Jack Mofield; secretary-treasurer, Margarita Paez. Sophomore Year Brings Bigger Thrills The Sophomores started off the year with a bang—and the freshmen felt the bang on Friday, September 7th, which was the day they were initiated. The sophomore dance that was held that evening, with the fresh- men as honored guests, proved that there were no hard feelings Leading the class this year were: Arthur Martinez, president; Don Willson, vice- president; Nancy Licano, secretary; and Jerrie Romisch, treasurer. Miss Jane Fickett, Mr Pat Maguire, and Mr. Harry Reeves were class sponsors for the year.
