4 1952 Copper Cat MORENCI HIGH SCHOOL Morenci, Arizona Volume 7 Sponsored by MORENCI HONOR SOCIETY Once Upon A Time.... .. .in the little town of Morenci, upon a mountaintop, there was a high school known to all who attended it as Morenci High School, lair of the Morenci Wildcats. In this school everyone worked and played together, faculty and students alike. The day was filled with activities—classwork, assemblies, and sports. The evenings sparkled with extra-curricular events, such as ballgames, dances, and various musical productions. Our faculty has proved that teachers can be fun! Parties, activities, and classes al I go to support our point. Their serious side shows too, when you realize at the end of every year, how much knowledge they have helped you gain. Their habits and their appearances are different, yet each in his own way helps to make a smiling and helpful faculty. From tall, tall coach to little Miss Fickett ranges the size of our faculty; but their guidance and understanding in helping us to plan our future can't be measured according to size. The main event on the faculty's social calendar was their annual picnic which was held just before the opening of school at the Country Club. Those teachers not pictured are: W.R. A real feeling of importance came the day they ordered their announcements and cal ling cards. Many of the seniors ordered friendship pictures to distribute to their classmates On January 11th they climbed abroad a chartered bus and traveled to Safford to see the Morenci-Safford basket- ball game. A few nights later they were guests of Eastern Arizona Junior College at Thatcher for the E . A . J .C .-F lagstaff game. Both trips were lots of fun. February 1 3th marked the date that seven proud seniors became members of the National Honor Society. Spring witnessed busy preparations for the annual senior banquet. Then the seniors turned their heads toward graduation. The night they received their diplomas climaxed many hours of practice and preparation. SIMON R. The annual return dance for the sophomores was given by the freshmen on October 26, 1951 . Every- one agreed it was a great success. The year's activities were sponsored by Mrs. Louise Park, Miss Vida Whilhite, and Mr. William Fitzgerald.
