uPBusyytBfi The senior class of 1950 is very proud to be the first class to graduate from the new high school. Of course they lost themselves in the labyrinth of halls and rooms in the new building, at first, but they couldn’t admit it because they had to uphold their dignity as the mighty seniors.” Class officers elected early in September were, Joe Ramos, president, Dewey Porter, vice president. Leah Klein, treasurer, and Amelia Montoya as secretary. Potter’s Ranch was the scene of a very successful senior picnic. Everyone had fun see-sawing riding burros and playing games. Seniors were busy throughout the months following with classes and school activities: the junior senior play; assemblies; Robert Acuna, Vincent Loose, Robert Bonilla, Florencio Navarrete, Paul Simmons, Bernabe Morales, Joe Ramos and John Rodri- quez, were out for foot- ball; and Bob Stapp man- aged the girls’ volleyball team. Other members participated in basketball, baseball, tennis and track. Seniors lead and partici- pated in the student coun- cil, with John Alvarez as student body president and in various other extra curricular activities, They took part in the Messiah, the band, glee club and the Music Festival in Thatcher, Amelia Montoya was a cheerleader and later won the D.A.R. good citizenship award. Leal Klein will be remembered for her outstanding performances on the violin. Along in April the seniors took the long anticipated senior trip and had a wonderful time. The whole school seemed quiet when all the seniors were away! May was a very busy month for everyone, The senior banquet was on Friday night thi twelfth, and the senior farewell assembly 01 the nineteenth. Of course the really big event! were baccalaureate on the twenty first an» commencement on the twenty-sixth. The clasi had worked and waited for twelve long years; to earn their diplomas and to wear their caps and gowns .The thrill of wearing the long robe; and of seeing themselves and their friends ii the mortarboards and of being the first class to receive their diplomas in the new school were some of the joys of the commencemen season. The sponsors who helped make thi year successful were Joe Ann Lawton, Ros» Berra and Gary Bailey. Marjorie Johnsoi replaced Mrs. Lawton when she was grant» a second semester leave of absence. UPPER LEFT: Joe Ann Lawton, class sponsor. CORNER: Mrs. Lawton and Mr. Hentze super- vise THE LOADING OF THE TRUCKS FOR THE senior picnic. RIGHT: Amelia Montoya and John Alvarez lead the grand march at the Junior Prom. Couple at the right is Blandina Luna and Robert Jimenez.
