We know the person who can and does, all the days of the year—J. W. Stone, our high school principal--our friend and advisor. Helen V. PLflMUD II fflfi «S building was ready for the painters. A faculty committee working with Mr. Fairbanks and Mr. Stone, Eva Stone, Willis Orr, Dorothy Jernigan and Marjorie Johnson, last spring had planned the color for the interior, so those plans were given to the painters. At last the building was finished on schedule and equipped with mostly new furniture, and on September 7, school started on time and in the newbuilding.lt is with humble appre- ciation and thanks, for their interest and hard work, that we hereby dedicate the 1950 Copper Cat to the members of the Board of Education and to our superintendent who brought our new building into being. UP flflD DOUUn THE HALLS TO THE fflcuuys DfSKS Just a minute--we’ll call roll.......... yes, our faculty is here. They are a group as diversified in experience, hobbies, and per- sonalities as they are in the subject matter they teach. Just for fun while we were work- ing on this copy, we counted up the number of colleges attended by our high school teachers and administrators and found that they had gone to twenty different colleges in eleven different states--from New York to California and from Texas to Colorado, to secure their bachelor and master degrees. You’ll find their hobbies--golf, hunting, fishing, lapidary work(cutting and polishing stones, in case you didn’t know,) playing musical instruments, singing, woodworking, photography, knitting and needlework, bowling, pursuing mystery stories or writing poetry, are just as varied as the cars they drive. They are members of and give many hours of service to community organizations--Lions Club, Rotary, American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary, Morenci Woman's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Volunteer Firemen, Elks, Crippled Children’s Society, Girl’s Scout Council, and to Morenci’s several churches. Besides the hours our teachers spend in olass.they devote much additional time to our extra curricular activities and sports. They take us on class, field and sports trips; chap- eron our picnics and dances; work with us on publications; direct plays and assemblies and help us learn to plan and organize our activ- ities so that we may secure an all around ed- ucation and be better prepared for citizenship.
