The seventy three girls of the Pep Squad livened up the halves of the home football games with their various formations and yells. Performing under the direction of Miss Lois Stevenson, the squad marched with the band and contri- buted much to the spirit of the games. MAJORETTES AND TWIRLERS IN ACTION 27

(Junior Senior Meena Mabbitt and Aunt Caroline t,t. Clayton Who Killed Aunt Caroline , the annual Junior-Senior play, was presented on October 24. The plot was built around the Endicotts, a poor middle-western family. Mrs. Endicott, played by Annalyn Thompson, asked rich but miserly Aunt Caroline for money so that Agnes, Anna Lee Peterson, might quit her .job and marry David Thompson, Harold Porter, and Riccy, Harrison Fairbanks, could go to college. While drinking tea at the Endicotts, Aunt Caroline, played by Consuelo Martinez, was poisoned. The plot thickened as several people were suspected and several confessed. The play, which was full of suspense, climaxed when Dolores Benavidez, as Meena Maboitt, Aunt Caroline's companion, confessed to the killing of Aunt Caroline. Other members of the cast were Mrs. Endicott's two youngest daughters, Beryl, Jessie Louise Bass, and Cicely Elena Blake, Frances Vallero as Louise McLain, Louise Billingsley, as Qna Hagaman, Bill Lines as Dan Donovan, Phillip Lawson as Lt. Clayton, and Alfredo Contreras as the Latin teacher. Aunt Caroline's death 26

TRUMPETS—George Karakey, Everett Mauldin, Joe Rodriquez, Pat Ashley, Phil Stewart Arnulfo Alcarez, Harry Shaver, Charles Van Driel. TROMBONES—Charles Karakey, John Scott, Merle Martinez. HORNS—James Holt, John Parker, Dean Holland, Telford Stone, Phil Bullard, Neil Morgan. BASS—Alex Martinez, Les McClain, William Moore. DRUMS— Paul Simmons, Elizabeth Moore, Jeanette pace, Bob Bucklin, Pat Talley, Lucille Benitez. SAXAPHONES—John Jones, Mary Parker, Shirley Nardelli, Paul Maldonado, Beverly Poster. FLUTES—Claudine Jackson, Rosine Gualdoni. TWIRLBRS—Elizabeth Moore, Sara Marin, Jeanette Pace, Mary Parker, Shirley Nardelli. Each year in the spring Morenci with the other schools in go to the annual music festival at Thatcher. Here each school competes to see who has the best band. Also, there is individual solo competition. The band has turned out for all the home football games this year to help cheer the team on to victory. The band also gave free public concerts. In addition to the main band, there is a junior high band, a violin group, a string ensemble, a brass sextet, and the swing band which played for a few dances. iBand the conference, . Nil SWING BAND
