Class elections were held early in the year with Mrs. Jo Ann Lawton as sponsor and Mrs. Esthermae Kleinman and Miss Marjorie Johnson as as- sistant sponsors. Juan Gonzalez was elected President; Alfredo Contreras, Vice-President; Frances Vallero, Secretary; and Elena Blake, Treasurer. The officers and sponsors proved themselves quite worthyofthe positions which they held, and were supported by a very cooperative class. Assuming themselves as leaders of the high school, the seniors led the school picnics, having theirs on September 30 at Eagle Creek. Ihe Junior-Senior play was next on October 24 with the juniors and seniors establishing a record for their ticket sales. The social events were the Junior-Senior Banquet April 23 and the Senior Ditch Day early in the spring. The class presented the school with a gift at the last assembly of the year. And now among the fading embers: These in the main are my regrets, When I am right, no one remembers; When I am wrong, no one forgets. 16
