Our first day of school was bright and beautiful climatically speak- ing. The I i t I e b r i ck schoo I build- ing shone in the sun and our little feet twinkled as we c I i mbed the h i I I to beg in ou reducat ionaI careers in Miss Morcomb s .room. Miss Morcomb taught us to read and wr i te and sent us on to Mi ss Rob i nsan for ou r second y ea r of i nst ruet i on. Ourthird year we had Miss Ro I I e as our teacher. Miss Stiles and Miss Panda I I saw us thru the next two yeprs and Mrs. Hu i sh was our last el ementa ry teach- er. We crossed the bridge to the high school building and were at last in junior high, very impress- ed with our gr wnup state. We set- tled doWn to serious work and the two years went by very rapidly. Dale started us on our high school careers as freshman presi- dent. The initiation was fun but rough. We wore our clothes back- wards and Inside out, painted the M , and did all the other things required to make us full fledged high school students. Velia Benitez and Julia Ames joined ourgroup. When we were sophomores we had our chance to get revenge ahd we made life difficult for the fresh- men during the Ir initiation period. Gwen Dolly, Donald Grady, Pat Step- hens, Lily Rios, and Marilyn Simmons joined our group our second year. Our j un i or year was very event- ful. Charles Guererro led us and Aurora De I gado was ou r J un i o r Queen. Jesus Martinez, Jesus Tellez, and Angel Chacon left for the Army and Velma Clubb, Lewis Moore, and Roy DeVilbiss entered Morenci High SchooI. As seniors, we swe I led our rante with five vete rans, Louis Rod r i quez, Rudo I pho Onate, A. J. Burch, Fortino Alvarez, and Gonzalo Gomez. Clara Johnston, Joyce Boutin, Mack Thur- man, and Wayne Newton added to our numbe r. Miss Hagan, Mrs. Kleinman and Miss Law are the Senior sponsors. As seniors we stand on the threshold looking into the future with anticipation, but it is not without regret that we look back- ward, too, toward the happy years we have spent in the Morenci Public Schools. We are grateful for the excellent teachers that guided our progressand for the lasting friend- ship we have made across our school years. That proved disastrious to the. wild- cats. in t h closinq seconds the Vandals pitched in t h ♦ winning basket. The wildcats also gave the Globe Tigers plenty of trouble and they kept the crowd right on the edge of their seats during the last half as they made a brave attempt to defeat them. The Globe boys hit the lo p from all over the court in the first ha 1 ' to lead 34-15. But in the second half thry reallv hadtofight before the wildcats were finally dropped 54-42. yi frr 1 In c , 4 T n j ' i inoza, i Cr teea, Rudaljo As vallo, ‘iobtt rt Ac una. :. vili o «o fas. y.r.
