Graves Hall orehouse College has been called ttThe House on the Red Hill because it is located in southwest Atlanta atop one of the highest elevations in the city. The original campus is dominated by Graves Hall. Its Gothic tower is a. cherished symbol of the College, l'ac- ing the east and overlooking the tree- shadetl quadrangle which makes up the older part of the campus. Graves Hall stands as a proud sym- bol of Morehouse College. She repre- sents progress and longevity. Erected in 1889. Graves Hall is named for Dr. Samuel L. Graves, the second presi- dent of Morehouse College. The First permanent home for the college. Graves Hall, once housed the entire college. It was the classroom building, student dormitory, adminis- tration building, faculty housing, and the cafeteria. Since, it has become the dormitory for the Collegets football team. Graves Hall holds a special place in the hearts of many Morehouse Men, for many famous alumni have resided there. Of particular note are Dr. Hugh M. Gloster, President of the College, and the Colleges most fam- ous graduate, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
