I am not a violent man. but I exist in a violent time. often I End myself reflecting the violence of the times. Through these am: I lose all reason and become one with the swirling cesspool known as society. Society. which gave birth to my form and concept to my being. Society, which patterns my life and molds my destiny. Society. which has made me a slave; then in Africa; now in America; always and forever more. Society, glorious dreams of Manifesr Desriny, The Sun Never Setting, A Pluralism Working Class. and The Embodiment of Godls Inalienablc Rights. Society, fact or fiction? It is Fiction for me because I am Black. I am Black, and Manifest Destiny has eradicated my dignity. I am Black, and the Never Setting Sun has storched my skin and seared my eyes. I am Black, and the Pluralisric Working Class is working against me. 1 am Black and the Embodiment OfGndIs Inalienable Rights bestow slavery upon me. I am Black, and I must Eght to survive. Admist this never ending altercation. I contemplate. Why am l, as :1 Black man. or my pctnplc as a Black race, the most despised people in the world? In the grand design of the universe, why must we play this role? Is the plight of the Black race one of eternal struggle? I comtemplate these thoughts and more. and I wonder ifI will ever know why. The struggle .. . continues.
