During the spring semester, C. Nelson Grote was chosen by the Board of Regents as the new President of Morehead State University. He made his first official appearance as Albright's successor at the Founder's Day Celebration. He pledged to make the university an even greater, more respected college with the help and cooperation of everyone. Phil Simms quarterbacked for the New YOrk Giants who won the Super Bowl. Simms was also named the MVP of the Super Bowl. Basketball center and OVC standout Bob McCann was drafted by the professional team Milwaukee.
