Tech came to the Morehead campus to give the Eagles their first big test of the young season. The hosts led by Buford Crager took an early first quarter lead 7-0. Crager cracked off tackle and sprinted 47-yards for the score. The remainder of the game was dominated by the strong offense and de- fense of Tenn. Tech, who went on to win the O.V.C. Championship. On the Maryville home field the Eagles battered the Scotties' goal line in every quarter. Bud Ogden scored two touchdowns in the first half as More- head led 13-O. The Eagles roared back in the second period as Paul West and Walt Shepard each tallied once. M.S.C. returned to the campus with a record of 2 wins and no losses. EAGLES THRILL HOMECOMING CROWD Freshman halfbacks Howard Murphy and Bud Ogden ran wild as the Eagles trounced previously undefeated West Virginia Tech 49-15, before a wildly cheering homecoming crowd of 4,500. The game was one of extreme contrasts, as Tech led at halftime by 7-6. The Eagles roared back in the third quarter to score three times. Freshman skatback Howard Murphy gained 136-yards ia 11 carries, scored a touchdown, added two m6re points on a conversion and had a 43-yard touchdown called back. Other Eagle stars of the day were Bud Ogden with two touchdowns, Henry Schutte and Walt Shepard with one TD each. Morehead outgained W.
