On the Maryville home field the Eagles battered the Scotties' goal line in every quarter. Bud Ogden scored two touchdowns in the first half as More- head led 13-O. The Eagles roared back in the second period as Paul West and Walt Shepard each tallied once. M.S.C. returned to the campus with a record of 2 wins and no losses. W V rs Tom Scott Buford Crager Bruce Howard Henry Schutte Center Fullback Tackle Quarterback MOREHEAD WHIPS GEORGETOWN 20-0 The Eagles began their 1960 season with a whirl as they defeated the Georgetown Tigers on a rain soaked field, 20-0. M.S.C. took the lead in the first quarter as Pete Swain scored from the 6-yard line. In the second quarter Henry Schutte lofted a pass to Ron Quinn for the second tally. The Eagles' fi- nal score was made on an aerial from Schutte to Howard Murphy. Jim Hastings added the extra point and Morehead lead 20-0 at the half, The second half of the game was a muddy defensive battle with James Tub Keenan and Bruce Howard leading the Morehead attack. Tech came to the Morehead campus to give the Eagles their first big test of the young season. The hosts led by Buford Crager took an early first quarter lead 7-0. Crager cracked off tackle and sprinted 47-yards for the score. The remainder of the game was dominated by the strong offense and de- fense of Tenn. Tech, who went on to win the O.V.C. Championship.
