MOREHEAD STATE COLLEGE MARCHING BAND In the fall of 1956, the Marching Band opened the fall sea- son with 18 members. Because of the very hard work of Fred Marzan, director, and the many loyal students, the band has increased until this year the number was over 130. Not only the number of members but also the fine quality of performance has caused the band to be recognized as one of the finest marching bands in this part of the nation. Last year the president of Lions International heard the band at the Kentucky Derby and was so impressed that he invited the band to represent his organization at its International Convention in Nice, France, in 1962. SUCCESSFUL SE S 4 LOSSES V Eagles down Eastern . . . The 1960 Morehead football season was a great success as it marked the first time since 1949 that the Eagles finished above the .500 mark. By spilling Eastern and Western in their last two outings, the Eagles reached a high-water mark in the last ten years of conference play. It WHS the first time since joining the O.V.C. in 1948, that Morehead had defeated Western. In defeating Eastern, the Eagles regained the prized Hawg Rifle for the first time since 1949. The success of the 1960 football team can be attributed to the spirit and desire shown by the young squad of opportunists and to the coaching Staff headed by Guy Penny. 1, -'1 VU ,i4l?'fii.:Q :-if ,jg,i'yQ.+f.ewW3 -mt . v ' , ' 4 Tom Scott All O.
